Been a while... GT vs. LS

My point, quik, I didn't find it reasonable to spend all that money on the LS to get half way of where I can be with the stang. That's just my case, not yours or anyone else in here. It's the same as if I try to convert to a 3 or 4 valve on the GT, nonsense, not cost effective. Might as well get a Cobra and be done with it, well that's what I did, got the Mustang and left the LS. Even my wife's Sport Trac V8 is faster than the LS. That's all.

Don't call me a lier.

Pretty easy to tell a manual from a auto, unknown mods. His best was 14.1 for the day.

Also have some slips against a 99 with exhaust and CAI. Also a manual. Beat him several times with RT and us both running 14.5s. He did manage a 14.3 later not against me.

Your point was your Mustang is some sort of super car. With the mods it has it should run strong.

I have under $1200 in mods in my LS and run close to 99-04 GTs like it or not.

At the track plenty of people comment on how surprized the were to see me next to them at the end of the track. Several 99-04 Mustang drivers.

If you don't like the feedback your getting...go back and read some of your first posts.

Oh, I'm loving the feedback. I surprised a lot of people too with the LS, it was just priceless to see the kid's face on my old LS, I never went through that.

Well - then you just do not get the point...

I want to drive an american BMW, then when needed - go fast. Now 'go fast' is relative - faster than other cars in my class, Luxury, style, ...etc

Like I said before - I have cars with no AC, no interior, no stereo - that seem fast now - but still could be faster.... They are not the cars I want to be seen in driving around town, they are the ones I take out on race nights.

There is a difference.

Understood. Again, hats off to you. My knowledge is just now broadening with the whole power-adder subject, that's why I'm just realizing how precise of a job you're doing and how much effort is going into it. I just didn't see me going at it with the LS and I'm the first to admit, I have the power, but not the looks, and still have a long way to go. My goal is a sub 10 second street car, and that's really soon to happen. As soon as I get the axle in and new frame support, we're doing forged internals and will run the D1 at 13 psi with blower cams, if that doesn't do it, I'm going turbo. Like you said, there's no cure after the speed bug bites you!

It's all good. There is much you can do - spend a little every weekend, most are bolt-ons.

You'll finally end up with a nasty rattle-box - but it will go!!!

Good deal. Happy to see I didn't leave a bad taste after all.

So in all essence, your LS will be the perfect car!!! Good enough for the track and beautiful on the streets. Keep it up, I know in my heart I will read about your project in big letters one day. Like I said, you're setting the pace for modding the LS, real performance modding.

for me - it's fun when is not easy.

but - I still hate getting lapped by someone in a TT Viper.....

I think fastnsmooth didn't mean to pick any fights, but I can see how some ppl might think so your with his wording.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a story of my own to tell.
I
pulled up to a light and a guy on a bike pedaled up next to me, waiting to cross the street. Sure enough, it was my old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles bike!!! I got the giggles and rolled down my window. The guy thought I wanted to race, and he rolled back and forth a couple times, and I recognized the sound (my Hideki Irabu rookie card in the spokes)...

:D :D  hahaha sorry bored at work

Have fun climbing over that roll cage in your 10 second street car. ;)

LOL @ Hideki Irabu!! Blast from the past!!

Story of my life... There's a Z06 around here that's cammed and ported and that thing eats cobras for breakfast. I saw an 03+ LS8 at the track the other night trapped at 13.2 at 111 with a 125 zex shot. I'm sure he can do better with some tires cause he spinned a lot.

Just read this and I did not really pick up on him saying what you guys said he was, in his first post anyway. Its typical, you get a new car even if its better in some cases you tend to go back to the place where your used to roam w/ the other car and try to justify your decision on trading or whatever. Its natural. Yes the LS is not anything special, but to its owners it is, and yes once you get out of it and into something else you look back at the car and are like "pffft, that car was not great at all really" or something in that way of thinking. I have done it w/ all my cars, it helps to forget some or make you realize it was a good decision.

I do agree about the LS owners being stuck up or acting like it. I have not meet anyone who owns one outside of this site that was nice to me when I engaged or tried to anyway in a nice convo about the car. There is a few on here who jump on you for nothing, alittle rediculous but hey, its the net, everyone is big time right.

Congrats on the stang. I heard the GT's around that year were not really anything great from the factory, they were quick yes, but not lightning fast until like you stated, some mods take place.

Haha thanks. That example is a bit far fetched though, I burned his card in effigy about 10 years ago, he sucked!

But I digress, fastnsmooth, how do the cops react to your modded yellow mustang? :shifty: :D

Perhaps you feel that way because you've had TOO MANY! cars?

Common definitions of "special"
1. of a distinct or particular kind or character: a special kind of key.
2. being a particular one; particular, individual, or certain: You'd better call the special number.
3. pertaining or peculiar to a particular person, thing, instance, etc.; distinctive; unique: the special features of a plan.
4. having a specific or particular function, purpose, etc.: a special messenger.
5. distinguished or different from what is ordinary or usual: a special occasion; to fix something special.
6. extraordinary; exceptional, as in amount or degree; especial: special importance.
7. being such in an exceptional degree; particularly valued: a special friend.

I completely disagree with you, but you have your own opinion it's cool.

Great perspective. I think alot of the LS owners on here are young and have the LS as their first car and just think they're the sh!t. Case in point the guy who bought this guys old LS. I am now a 2 time owner of an LS and i will agree that its nothing special. Honestly, there isnt too much on a LS that isnt on every car nowadays. I guess it all comes down to everyones own expectations or whatever. I've owned many cars, some fast some just nice to drive and comfortable. By the time my payments are done on my LS i'm sure my next car will exceed the LS. Its kinda sad to see how people worship the car they drive and take things so damn serious. To make them feel good about themselves they need to beat this car or have more horsepower than that car. I've never joined any other car forum and i honestly dont even remember how i found LVC, but i find the types of people attracted to online forums are just waaaaay too into their cars. Which is fine, its nice to have a hobby or whatever, but peoples mindsets get warped.

I like the LS, I thought my '02 was gorgeous but besides the exterior styling it was ho hum and boring. If I could get another I would but only cause I have a couple cars to help keep things interesting. I am not dissing on the car itself really, sounds like it though I know that. I think the actions of owners make you hate the car, like in the case of those honda's. My hatred toward those was based on the wrong reason, and that was the stupid driver. Now I just look at the car for what it is and has to offer and try not to let an owner make my mind up of any car. Granted, there are some true pos' out there lol.

The cops around here are a mystery. I have a cop two houses down from mine and the day I came home with the car, he came outside, walked over, looked under the car, with me watching him, and said "nice, you do know that it is illegal thou"... I asked him what? he said the Long tubes and no cats... but that was it, end of it. He finished it with "my brother has a mach 1" and from there on we have become some sort of good neighbors. The other night I was being chased by an SRT8 charger and when we went from a light, a cop watched us take off, I pulled hard on the SRT8 but the cop pulled him over, not me. It's very known that many cops hate GM and Dodge cars, why? I don't know. But that's what I've learned since owning the stang.
Close to where I live the cops sponsor this racing event called C.A.R.S (cops against racing on streets) where they sponsor one night of test n' tune and I wanted to race this beast but they wouldn't let me race again unless I get 6 point cage due to my times. The toughest part is keeping the eyes in front and not letting every car next to you disturb you. It's amazing how many guys want to race me now, just because is a Mustang, even if they drive a metro with a fart can... check this pic of the police car...

Hmm...reading that i get the name R-Bones popping into my head.

I dont understand that either. Back when i had my T/A i had minivans trying me. Just yesterday i was in the front at a redlight, next to me was a WS6 LS1 T/A which i would never test in a LS. Now i didnt care to race or test him but i did need to get over to make a turn up ahead. When the light turned green i stepped on it alittle hard nothing crazy though. The T/A just drove normal which i respect a whole lot more than if he would have floored it to try to beat me. When you think about it, unless your on a highway there arent too many roads where you can pull off going over 60 mph safely. Considering most cars will hit 60 in under 10 seconds what purpose is it to race from a light? What is that proving in those few seconds? So many other things can go wrong in that time. You got lucky against the SRT8 but i definately forsee multiple tickets in your future.

I get people all the time when I am in my SS/SC trying to run, from you typical fart cannon only mod civic and such to mustangs and camaros, even some dually trucks. Its crazy, I do not race on the street though, its kinda boring now and knowing stats of the opponents makes it easier. A stock GT stang rolls up and wants to go I know he's got me off the line alittle but I than just blow past after hitting mid 2nd(which happens fast) and than its usually them slowing up just as I put a length on them or a civic or hyundai, which is over much faster lol. Just wastes gas so I do not do it, save it for the track. Atleast you can get well over 80 there safely and not worry about something from a piece of junk in the road to a person coming out of nowhere.

I will admit I've been lucky a couple of times, but I don't really race on the streets. No point in it plus anyone is game on the streets. I can be outdriven by an LS in the streets thanks to it's handling ability when weaving through traffic or a curvy road, so why waste the fuel? My tune has me using 93 and sometimes I have to use additives or buy 2-3 gallons of race fuel due to the low quality fuel from hess and citgo...

Yea, gotta use premium in all my cars besides the pos sable lol

you shouldve PIT'd him.

"you aint got nuthin on me?" what a toolbag.

he doesnt deserve your sloppy seconds

I know, but after all, that was my car at one point and I felt upset that the kid was abusing it that way. He was holding the brake while accelerating trying to get a good launch, all I heard was the LS engine choking it's cylinders and starting to break traction. I'm telling you, I traded that car with 92k miles on it and a howling noise in the differential, if he keeps that up he won't have car for too long...
