Ha... Not what you were thinking.

Just curious, how do you drive your LS? I've been eager to really get on it in mine but still never have. Hell, mine hasn't seen over 4500rpm since I've owned it. I have dropped to 3rd gear at about a 40mph roll To dust this Honda Prelude that thought he was fast but that's it.

If you beat the hell out of yours, please comment. I want some stories. And by all means, convince me that I won't break it if I let it see 6500rpms once in a while. Tired of tip toeing lol.

While mine has certainly hit 6500k I usually cruise in mine. My two favorite places/ways to drive the LS are on the interstate where it effortlessly cruises and sweeping twisties through the mountains, the super tight switchback kind can be fun and I certainly had one hell of a time in the LS crossing the Appalachian mountains but can overwhelm the transmission and brakes quick. However successive long sweepers with elevation changes are the best! Throw in a road that follows the path of a small river of stream and man, that is life The later exists in great numbers around me.

Everyone complains about how the LS needs more power and that is true, but it's handling is in a class with cars that cost much much more. There is a reason this frame is still used in today's Jags. So I prefer to go out and find some nicely maintained roads with long sweepers back to back, and living in the mountain state, none are ever flat. That is where the LS shines. With the addition of Eibach springs and 4 new motorcraft sport shocks and the laundry list of suspension components I've replaced recently it's heaven. I have the luxury of driving a POS police car everyday for work and let the LS be my weekend getaway and it's wonderful My girlfriend is about as far from a car enthusiast as you can get and even she recognizes and enjoys how the lS drives on 2 lane curves.

I don't beat on mine. But will occasionally WOT it for a ramp or to get murdered by a modded pony.

I have recently noticed a smell of burned oil (probably seapage) when WOT since switching to mobile1 full synth. Before I had Royal Purple full synth and never noticed this smell if I stomp on it. It is known that M1 is a thinner oil, though.

So other than maybe a burn smell, the LS does not mind being WOT to stretch its legs once in a while.

I feel like when slow rolling, my LS looks at its best.

I rarely drive my LS hard but when I do, I almost always forget to turn off the TC hahahahaha.... classic.

HAM 24/7... Ha, not really, it just depends on my mood... it gets its fair share of abuse though

I tend to take mine to its limits from time to time and it feels fantastic. I get that burn Smell to since I changed my oil but that's due to the silly valvoline max life oil I put in (anybody know a top notch type oil for the Ls please let me know ) but yes Ive hit 6000+rpm a couple times when my friends want to fool around going to and from car shows/races. But I love taking it on curvy roads. My gf lives in a rural part of maryland so I tend to have some fun going to and from. I love the car though. Btw my car is stock besides the intake, so I can only imagine once I modify the suspension and widen the wheels.

Awesome guys!! Chris, my Eibach's and new MC shocks will be on this spring and I can't wait. Drizzle I agree, low and slow looks great. I have some great country side hills and curves I want to cruise on but never caught the opportunity due to common LS repairs maintenance. That and the recent wedding costs prevented me from luxury cruises. All I gotta say, is between the new suspension and intake going in this Spring... It's gonna be a blast!!!

Good feedback guys, God bless you all and your LS's !!

I fully gun it at least once or twice a day , depends on the other drivers, I do enjoy a slow relaxing drive in the Ls but being a driver in Chicago is not easy , worse drivers ever here 0.0

I've given mine hell since the test drive. I live in a rural area, and love the drive home... even with horrid brakes and a creaking suspension. I can't imagine how great it'll be once properly sorted.

since i bought it, my LS has always been my hot rod. if its the car I'm driving, then its getting driven hard (never without getting good and warmed up first) put about 100K miles on it like that and havent had any problem (other than most of what happens to every LS out there) that were not normal wear parts.

this is a good solid car, its really not easily broken without having to do something really stupid. this motor reallly shines when the RPMs get up there, let them! it will shift itself before it revs too high.

Agreed. These cars are cheap now man... drive it like ya stole it.

The 2004 LS8 is my wife's car, so she probably beats on it more than I do. (I drive a 2010 Explorer.)

But, when I drive the LS, there really aren't too many roads in crowded north Jersey where you can drive the hell out of any car.

I, too, go full throttle entering some high speed highways, but I haven't gone full throttle from a dead stop with any of my cars since I used to race my 57 BelAir back at the dragstrip in 1962/3.

I also have a 2003 TBird.

If I had to compare the two cars, "I take the TBird for a ride, I take the LS for a drive" (when I can find a challenging road that isn't packed with traffic).

But, I do use the SST feature a lot on both cars.

(I also will nail the 64 Galaxie every now and then, but nothing that I would label "beating" it.)

Not to derail, but what's under the hood of the Galaxie? Those are awesome, and super affordable around here compared to the old GM cars.
