Hey all. My 2004 LS is truly a 50% personal/commuter and 50% family car. Wanna replace the rear deck subs with something with a little more punch plus an amp. Want it all mounted in factory deck. Anyone know the largest sub(s) I can go with? Pics of any installs? Please dont use the thread to show off your system if it doesnt look factory!!

I am in the same boat as you. This week I upgraded my system. I replaced the 2 blown factory subwoofers in the back with factory replacements and I added a (1) 10" Rockford Fosgate sub and amp in a box as well. I still have room for luggage and a stroller. I also have more bass than I need, but I have the option of turning it down with the remote gain control. If you're intersted, I can post some pics showing the room that I have back there.

I know there are a few posts on here about people doing this before, and really if you wanted to replace your back two subs i think they only support 6x9s at most. If you go this route don't expect anything super to come out of it. I know you said you only wanted factory stuff, but you would be surprised how little room a 10" takes up, just build the smallest recommended enclosure and mount the amp right on top. And you know that small dip in your trunk as it goes further back, if you go with the 10" or any size it will stay the same size throughout as thats the factory subs hanging down back there. So you will also gain a little bit of room aswell. I know this isn't what you wanted as a response, but depending on how much boom you actually want, I would say just sacrifice a small corner and get a 10" or even a 12".

Thanks for the info and suggestions. I think I stated things wrong though. I know the factory subs or only 6 by 8's 6 by 9's or so. I want to place new subs in the factory decklid where they are located. I need all the available room of the trunk. You guys would be surprised at how much room a couple of Pop Warner football gear bags take up!!:p I already replaced the factory deck last year with the Eclipse AVN5495. Not looking for alot of boom. Just more then the factory subs are putting out.

If your just looking for something with a little bit, then pick up a good set of 6x9s, you may have to cut the holes so they will fit, but anyone can do that, just make sure you do a clean looking job. some good 6x9s are rockford fosgates.

do a seach here for fiber glass boxes.. this guy made a box for 1 twelves to sit on the side of the trunk flush with the carpet.. looks clean and lets u get to every psart of ur trunk easily

I fiberglassed a 12 for the side of my trunk. I am very satisfied with it. Good bass, not gettoh bass, but good bass.

I made a box that goes down in the spare tire well its for sale right now on this board somewhere just search for fiberglass box. It leaves all the trunk space intact.

this is what i had for a little time but wasn't enough bass so i went to pioneers 6x9s
