I see that a relay controls this. I assume it must pick up power feedback from the motor to stop the window?

If so could this relay be added to the passenger window?

Just a thought.

the relay just controls the power to the motor, there still needs to be somthing to control the relay. the system usually stops the window when they "see" a voltage drop from the motor catching resistance (like a arm in the way or the window hittin the end of the track) not sure about the mark's but the LS's computer controls the whole thing. i have seen people add window controll modules (like the DEI models for there security systems) with out actually having the security system

MODEL# Directed Electronics 530T WINDOW CONTROL MODULE

my father in law has used those modules in other cars before he says its fairly simple to add it to any car with power windows, but thats as much as i can say!

i was thinking that ray told me at one time you could use the drivers side switch on the passenger side and they would both be auto. Its been a long time and im not sure if you had to do something else as well though.

everyone is sorta right!

you need the autodown module, it's a little blue box.
you also need the autodown switch.
jamies dad is right it works on our mark 8 and most any ford power window

I'm pretty sure the driver window has two down contacts built in it.
If you press it down to the first contact it stops when you release the switch. If you fully depress the switch, the 2nd set of contacts are activated, telling the little module you want the window all the way down.

^^ I think thats how it is on a Gen 2 maybe, but in a Gen 1 there is one position, so second click or anything. If the switch is pressed just once it auto drops but if you hold it for more than .25 seconds (or something) it stops when you let off the switch.

At least I am pretty sure. But I do know that some have a two stage sorta switch. Its pretty obvious in my mom's Lexus.

I was going to swap a auto down in the pass door. Then I was thinking(uh-oh)Since the drivers side controls both sides, couldn't you just in-line splice the auto down into the pass control and auto down the both? Hmmm. I'm going to the garage now. I'll see what happens.

second gens do have a 2 position switch, it actually does click twice in the down mode, you possibly could splice to make the pass side auto down from the drivers switch, almost anything can be done if you can figure it out!!

Thats what I was looking to do. Just have the driver have control of auto-down, no so much the passenger. But since both switches control the window it may not matter.

Ok everything is apart but I need a diagram or photo to see which wire(s) is controlling the auto down to splice into. Anyone have some info here?

The red and yellow wires coming off the relay control the drivers window. Would splicing the yellow and white-black striped wires be the correct ones? Anyone...Bueller.....Bueller........:D ???

Thats the way it is in rays car. I wish I seen this earlier 2day I wouldve had time to go out and look. But I think he told me it did have something to do with the DEI. If u dont have it figured out by 2morow ill take the door apart and try to figure out what he did.

I'm waiting to get my new door lock actuator so if anyone knows about the window mod I'll try it out and get some pics later this week.

I say why mess with it unless we figure out how to retro fit the auto up AND auto down switch to BOTH sides, eh?! That's what I thought the last time I thought about this problem. The auto up is exceptionally useful, especially when you're like me with 2% tint and hate nosey people.

look on tccoa, i did it to the thundermark (didnt have auto down) MWB did the research and printed it out, its a taurus auto down module, gotta splice a few wires but was cake

I looked at that, I really rather modify our stuff. Our auto down works fine, just want it for the pass. too. I'll have to check out that diagram. Shouldn't be that hard to mod this thing.

yes, 530T is the module. DEI makes Python, Clifford etc etc.
I don't know if the link will work, but here is the manual/wiring diagram.
