Which would i see better gains from the ATI SFI approved balancer or just an aftermarket steeda crank pulley, if my terminology or understanding of these products is incorrect someone please correct me and give me insight to which is better

The only way you pick up power is if the size of the damper is SMALLER in dia then stock one. It slows down all things driven. ATI is one of the BEST dampers out there bar none. You just have to note dia's of both. ATI most likely makes diff dia's. The steeda has has some iffy feedback. EDIT: if you are just stating a Steeda PIGGYBACK crank pulley don't run one.

Yeah , i know to never use piggybacksas they are famouns for engine failures in modulars, some say they make the oil pump gears shatter, some say its because people use impacts to remove the pulleys and cause stress on the oil pump gears when removing them, whatever the case is i know they are no good, do you think the gains they claim are realistic for the ATI SFI? also, which size should i be looking at for the SFI to buy? or should i just go with the one from SCP?

Why don't you post some info on the ones your talking about. As mentioned ATI most likely makes more then one dia.

Just saying... :burnout:

^^^ +1

I ran that Steeda crank pulley also, but I had it on my Gen 1. Since the engine was out, I had everything balanced, so I had no worries.

Right on the mark - i dont know the diameter size, was talking about the one for sale on SCP its a BHJ balancer, is it a good one?

This one? https://www.supercoupeperformance.com/partBrowser.aspx?partId=731

It says right in the description that it's a 6.8" dampener. You won't see any "gains" from a stock diameter dampener. A smaller diameter dampener that underdrives the accessories will provide modest "gains". ATI offers a 5.5" dampener (#918041) and Steeda offers a 5" dampener (#031-D0030230000).

If you're looking on SCP, this is an UD set: https://www.supercoupeperformance.com/partBrowser.aspx?partId=332

yeah, ive seen the UDP sets they have there too, i didnt know fi they were any good because mot people jsut say just swap over the crank pulley instead of the others too, and i knew a smaller diameter pulley is where you would see your gains i just didnt know what size pulley the marks had stock, thank you though, now i know. Second time you have taught me something, thank you race cougar

Why don't you check out my thread where I list and show everything?
