So I had set the parking brake the other day got in the car took off drove around for 15 minutes before I relized that I still had it on. Now its making a grinding noise what do I do
My mom smoked the pads in my Vic... no big deal, just replace em and move on.
+1 on having to turn the rear calipers back in, the little tool you can buy for $8-$10 at the auto parts store is pretty much useless...
Whoops, yeah, don't mess around with that POS. Rent the brake kit from the parts store, it is about eight thousand times nicer.
My local place has a $100 deposit for their brake kit, and I get it all back when I return the kit.
my buddy did that to my old 5 speed mark vii
Now if you had a gen 2 you wouldnt have this problem. The other day in my gen 2 i pushed the e brake down, then was liek wtf? wheres the realse. DUH, put it in reverse and it popped back up. First time i ever had to use it. lol
Does a light come on in a gen 1 Mark when you set the parking brake?
well good news. took to the muffler brake place they took a look wiggled the brake calipers around with a pry bar took it for a test drive no noise![]()
but when he took the cover off the rim a broke lug stud fell out has any one ever heard of a lug stud just breaking off???
LMAO. What???
They wiggled the calipers around... And that means your brakes are good? Lol.
Yes, studs breaking is very common. Usually a result of being previously over tightened by bad shops that aren't familiar with torque wrenches.
Had to replace 3 myself. (sheared when loosening)
