but back to the OP, at least we don't live in England. My sister in law and her husband are stationed there and if they don't buy gas on base it can cost them around 9-10 bucks a gallon. I say we have nothing to complain about. Plus my family in Holland pays sometimes as much as 12 bucks a gallon, as you know they sell it by the liter and its like 2 or 3 euros a liter and with almost 4 liters (3.8) in a gallon i mean what the :q:q:q:qk

I'm having this issue at the gas pump. Everytime I go there its gets more expensive to fill up.it used to be 3.33 when I got to hawaii in september, now its 4.08.anyone having similar issues

Man, I was happy that ours dropped back down to $3.29 Wow!

Plus, they don't have the distances we do to drive with our urban sprawl and they have an awesome transit system in most areas. My friend lived in Germany for a few years and never owned a car. He could get to anywhere he need to go via the U-bahn.

Blah, blah, blah. This comparo, along with the price per gallon of other things like Pepto, hand sanitizer, etc., comes up every time gas goes up. I couldn't care less if gas is $100 a gallon there........ I/WE DON'T LIVE THERE!!!!! They pay more in taxes there, should we? They are also clustered around major metropolis' and have an excellent mass transit system so they don't drive as much. We live in the 'burbs. London has a congestion tax to force even more people into their trains and buses. Most cars built by their safety standards wouldn't stand a chance in an accident here. They're like those stupid Smart Cars; small and very light so get very good mileage. A majority of people drive diesels and their diesel averages about $1 per gallon. Why doesn't anyone mention this? Why don't we have more diesels available here? Could it be we don't have the refining capability and our air quality regulations don't allow it? We have enough oil within our own borders to make the Middle East irrelevant. We just need to go and get it! BHO telling Brazil he wants them to drill and we'll be their best customer is OUTRAGEOUS! Let's put even more Americans in the bread line. But I digress.....

We will continue to face this dragon until someone in Washington has the guts to tell the environMENTALists to go pound sand!

When I went on my first WESTPAC in early September 1977 gas was ~$.27 for regular. When I got back the end of May 1978 it was approaching ~$.80! That was HUGE on my Navy salary!

i completley agree with that, we are all floating on oil, but with the redicoulus act they put into affect in the 70's killed it. I don't understand why they can't just over throw the act and let us drill on our own land instead of depending on foriegn oil.

The big reason is oil tycoons don't want to pay American labor fees to drill here, and since the government only cars about the rich america they won't change the laws, its completley ridiculous...

I disagree with that. Business is in business to make money. "Big Oil" (whatever that is) wants to increase profits (which are on the level of $.03-$.04 per gallon sold) to satisfy their shareholders (blame shareholders who demand higher profits, not the company!). They will make much more money drilling and selling our own available oil no matter what the labor cost than they will not drilling. The gummint has handcuffed the entire oil industry wit regulation after regulation. Can you say EPA and OSHA for starters? Don't forget the unions with their stranglehold on business. If I agree to be paid $10 per hour for my services and my employer makes $100 off of my service so what? I agreed to the pay. If I don't like it I can either renegotiate my pay or find other employment. There's a great parable about this in Matthew 20. It is much deeper than the employer/employee relationship, but the secular application is sound.
