When I was looking aroung for a used 99 Eldo I found it hard to find anybody less than 2 hours away who was selling one.

Are these cars really so rare? And if so, why? Were there only relatively few made or did so few of them survive the first few years due to being scrapped etc.?

dont think they are rare but at lot less where made compared to the rest of the line up.Depending on where you live they can be hard to find Fla,Texsas and Arizona seeem to have tons of them(guess old people like the heat) :p
hopefully the value will rise over the next few years!!!!

I got my Eldorado from Hartford, CT, and drove it 2200mi back to NM. They didn't seem to be that rare on the east coast when I was in the market. But overall they are a fairly rare car, compared to say a Corolla...

What was it then that spelled the end for the Eldorado back in 2002?

And why aren't they bringing it back?

American's don't buy big two door cars.
And that's why the Dodge Charger is a four door.

I hear very slight rumors about a Eldorado Concept Car for 08... but we have the XLR

Good! Cuz I can only use a two-door
BTW what car are you going to get? Going to the Mark VIII again or getting a Eldorado? or some other car.

Ironically I was already in the process of purchasing an 02 dodge dakota r/t. I wanted to alternate the caddy and truck for my nyc runs, split the mileage up to extend the life of both. The eldo must have gotten mad and assumed I was trading it in LOL. Some guy just emailed me via ebay telling me not to sell the car but to bring it down to him. He's a "N* " specialist near daytona and rebuilds the "vvt (?) Northstars" he said he feels bad for me and will rebuild it with new heads and already has the timeserts for $2350 guaranteed and throw me a passenger mirror. I just have to tow it down and leave it for a short while. I would still need the dakota then. So I dunno. Tempting. Opinions?

I would definatly try to get it rpaired, might check around localy for better prices, but that don't sound too bad...

its a cts 2 door

Where did you read / hear this? Any pictures of what it would look like?

Would this 2-door CTS be marketed as a CTS or would it actually carry the name "Eldorado"?

The STS as a two-door being marketed as an Eldorado is something I could probably live with - but the CTS is kind of small for a Caddy (or at least too small to be an Eldorado). Although it still wouldn't be the smallest: The BLS that is being marketed in Europe and built in Sweden (Baby Luxury Sedan) is even smaller.

I see eldorados all the time here in Florida.

Point me towards a few with the parts I so desperately need/want. If you notice they are all newer eldo's and a ton of other models.

Now if you want to know if it's rare, run the VIN. I did that only to find out mine is a one of a kind. I know it's not technically one of a kind, but it was specially made for some rich mofo and given a special VIN, in reality there were only about 25,000 made though.
