Are all LS Rears Universal?

The rear on my 04 3.0 started a moderate whine from 40-50mph 2 months ago which isnt that bad but now the whine has gone spotted and sounds like its skipping. Under like 15mph, especially in reverse I can hear the gears meshing if that makes sense. Changed the fluid not to long ago since I had an axle seal leak.

So Im curious If need new gears are all of them universal? At least the 2nd generation? Or would it be cheaper to just put new gears in?

The ring and pinion are the only things I know that are the same first and second gen. Make sure you get the correct ratio.

Seems you have generation 1 housing in your sig?

I wanted a LSD but to do so I need a gen 1 housing. A trac-lok will will not fit in a gen 2 housing.

What exactly are you asking? Is your ring and pinion bad?
