I have the new halogen housings on the car but have my cloudy as hell originals packed away. I was thinking about opening them up and trying to the chrome besides the actual reflectors. Anyone open these up before? If so how did you do it dremel bake them in the oven?

yes but it was not me

I've got a '97 LSC with somewhat cloudy lenses. The chrome on the inside is fine. But the lenses have what looks like some kind of film on the outside. I can scracth it with a fingernail and it sort of comes off. I tried some headlight polish from Adv. Auto but it did no good. Any ideas on how to polish up these lenses?

wet sand with 600 then 1000 then 2000 grit sandpaper. polish out sanding marks with meguires plastix polish. will take a lot of elbow grease unless you have a buffer.

Try the Walmart Grey pack. Mine were horrible and came out looking great. Not bad for $20.

That is the only long term fix. I'm going to need to do that to my spare set of housings too. They are really bad. I used plastx on them a few times and they never came totally clear.

thats because you need to wetsand them. A good buffer does wonders on messed up headlights.

Follow the instuctions on the foil looking pack from wal-mart and you won't be disappointed...back at the Midas I use to work at this is what I told them to use and now they're making $50 per pair when someone fails a State Inspection and customers were very happy with the results

I'm a professional detailer and do these all the time. Just make sure you keep a good coat of wax/polymer sealant on them otherwise it will just come right back as you sand away the UV protection coating.

As for baking the lights. I wouldn't doubt that it can be done. I did it on my '98 CSVT and it was a p.i.t.a. Getting them apart isn't half as tough as getting a water proof seal back.
