Anyone? Neon won't go on unless I remove

Anyone know why my 98 Mark VIII neon backlight won't go on,
Unless I disconnect it from the power clip, then plug back in.
I put so electric grease , electro something , still same problem.
Even if it goes on after after removing power clip, and pluging it againg
It will go off on its own after a while. Sometimes it lt longer on.
I checked the ground, clean all the metal connection for proper
Contact, but still the same.

Driving me nuts!

Your ballast is more than likely seen better days. Time for a new one!
