Anyone have an opinion on this OBD II scanner?

I'd hold on that. I purchased an Auto X-Ray scan tool at the local pawn shop for $50 - same one the auto parts stores use...

Ahh good idea I hadn't thought of that. This whole deal looks like to get interpretation of codes, is a $9.95 monthly fee on line.

*coughs*
Xcal 2!

used ones can be found rather cheap, they will read and clear your DTC codes and with the free SCT software you can take "datalogs" which are very useful for troubleshooting your car...
Best part is.. it'll "tune" your car as well.

hope this helps.

P.S. I got my used Xcal 2 for 50.00 on ebay
they usually sell for a little more than that scanner does, but IMHO it's definatley worth the cost difference

I have a older version of that one. Does the trick, nothing fancy. Came with a book to figure the code, didn't need to go online or pay.

Well I had the one similar to this before my Xcal2. Whats nice about it is I can borrow it out to family and friends to check there stuff. Not exactly going to do that with my Xcal2.

That's more in my price range.

I got one, that is not the "common sale price" on ebay for them.

I use different search terms looking for that misspelled or uncommon terminology used to describe the device.
Those auctions end, usually with no bids.

You can check any Ford OBD2 car's codes with the Sniper, plus datalog and tune your car.

normal ebay prices for a used xcal is around 150 bucks but it does everything that scanner does and also can tune your car, i got mine for 160.00 but i see them go for 150 all day, just make sure the car the tuner was used on was returned to stock, hence Unlocked.

I've got both OBD I and II cars here so I picked up an Actron 9150 and it's been great so far. Cheap (< $130 new from eBay), lots of different cables, CAN enabled etc, it does all I want but BCM codes, but I'd have to step up to a ~$450+ scanner then...

and make your alarm light blink randomly....
Well its not ramdon at all. It always blinks for the first 10 minutes. I've grown fond of this feature. When I start the car the flashing just reminds me that I have that bad a$$ tune in my car.

lol, buy a used xcal. ;) what a great "feature"!

lol
hey, have you turned your pats off in your tune?

dont kick someone until you've walked atleast a couple of steps in their shoes.

I heard a visicous rumor that on "some ford products" the same thing occurs with your favorite tuning solution.
BUT.. I haven't verifed nor tried, nor do I care to even TOUCH pats on my car.

one of the main reasons I migrated to the 98 was the fact it couldn't be "smash and grabbed" like my first gen was.

like I said, you should get or make a small Sniper logo to overlay there.
That way it'll flash something cool, other then "anti theft"

(lolz)

I don't care what it does when pats is turned off because I'm never going to... that's like asking what would happen if I filled my motor with sand, or tuned my car with Sniper...

yeah that little fukkin light is almost hypnotic at night, i can see it now, "chicken crashed his car cuz he was hypnotized by the anti theft light"
