I did the sn95 swap tonight so I could use some cobra R rims I had on hand. A couple problems I am experiencing I have noticed in the first few miles;

1) Either the fronts or back are biting constantly, and you can smell them bad. Cant tell which side, but something is grabbing when it shouldn't be. Let off the gas you can feel it sluggishly slowing down quicker than it should be.

2) The F'ing ABS is kicking. And its doing it wierdly. If you feather the brakes twice, the abs kicks both times. The third time you hit them they don't kick off the abs. Odd to me anyway.

3) I think i know this, but there is a wierd ass shimmy, like i'm jerking the wheel back and forth. I think this is due to rear end misalignment, but if you know better please share.

Overall, it was an easy swap. I got the rear 99 svt hubs from the tocca forums, the rest from here at a local supplier. It took me about 4 hours, considering I don't have a press and had to keep going accross the street to use theirs. (that and we started drinking about 1 hour in)

Any info is appreciated:cool:

well, abs light has to do with the front hubs, did you move the wheel sensor ring to be like the one on the mark viii hubs?

When you pull the knuckle off you do need to realign the back but it shouldnt be too noticable. Do you have all the hub nuts torqued to spec especially the rear, I didnt do it to spec thinking itd be ok.... boy I was wrong, the rear end felt like it was moving around on me. well having the rear nut loose blew up the bearings and it was pulling the car around like crazy over 50mph... when the bearing finally went the rear wheel was wobbling around like a teeter todder

when you say move the sensor ring, not sure I follow you. The sensor was mounted to the spindle assembly and it looked as if it was exactly the same. The front hubs came from a 95gt (they are new but that was what I had sent to me)

The hub nuts are hunkered down on there pretty good, maybe an overtorque issue? It just randomly arround 45 shimmys withoutwarning. It doesn't do it under hard accel, mostly just while cruising she just starts to wonder back there.

on the front hubs there is an abs sensor ring, its pushed towards the hub more then on the marks hubs, I had a machine shop press the ring so that it is where the mark viii abs ring is.

The nut for the hub needs to be 240ftlbs.... thats a lot.

OK, solved the rear shimmy and alignment. The rear hub nuts weren't tight enough (seems you should drink a 12 pack while doing a job like this) The alignment was a nut hair off, got that straight.

I;m thinking for the sensor, just relocating it at its mount. Can't need much of a move, they were very similiar. The fronts were 95GT units

Front axle wheel hub nut should be tightened to 189-259 lb-ft,
and the rears 188-254 (the same)...

Ideally the nut should be replaced when doing this.

You sure you have the bearings seated all the way as well?

Yea the abs sensorsare misaligned, causing the front abs tokid on andoff

Ya, you gotta take the front hubs back off and have that ring pulled out to the edge, just like the mark viii hubs are.

you don't think i can move the sensor to compensate? Heres how it ended up anyway....I think i'ma go for cobra calipers as well....the front pad have a 1/8 inch or so above the rotor not touching it, don't really like that and I forsee shot in the azz pads from it

Everyone says that when they see that picture. Its parked on a right to left leaning angle, and the air ride tries to compensate. It just ends up lifting the passenger side when it does. I'll go shoot the other side and show you that, it sits much lower when parked there. It sits even when on even pavement;)
