One of my shock mount customers wrote me today and informed me that he bought 03 Cobra rear shocks made by KONI to use on his car. I normally recommend the t-bird shocks by KONI, but he was unable to find them at the time he ordered these. Can anyone think of any reason why they wouldn't work?

I know many people have used the 03 Cobra Bilsteins with good results, so I don't see why he'd have a problem with the KONI's, but I just wanted to get some others' opinions before I answer him.

Thanks!

The shaft is 12mm on both the Thunderbird and Cobra Koni shocks.

The only thing I can think is they MIGHT be valved a little differently for different style of car/weight, but I don't know...

I'm certain that they're valved differently, and they may have different extended and compressed lengths.

When I reworked the rear suspension on my 03 Cobra I put new Steeda Sport springs and shocks in the rear. I can't remember were but I read somewhere that the 03 Cobra shocks worked well in the back of Mark VIII's. So I replaced my Mark VIII's old worn out rear shocks with the slightly used stock 03 Cobra shocks and they work very well. PS that Mark was lower 1 1/2". Was the white one in the avatar.
