So I ran the best of a 14.58 @ 97mph with a 2.3xx 60ft. I aired up the front wheels to 40 psi and the rears down to 24 psi and I'm still spinning bad! One one run trapped 98.9mph. Shouldn't that trap speed net like 14.0/13.99::D if I could hook in the 1.9 range? I need DR's!!! Lol

While trap speed can be a pretty good indicator I don't see you running an ET like that with just a chip and pullies. But yes, you need sticky tires for sure. If you are spinning AT ALL, the street tires aren't cutting it.

I'll put it to ya like this. When I ran my 14.1, I had 4.10 gears, 3800 stall converter, SCT chip, kooks headers w/ full 2.5" exhaust and a JMOD with a 4" aluminum driveshaft and sticky Mickey Thompsons dead-hooking. I know people on here say the Gen1s are magical, but they're not that magical. ;)

Assess your traction issues, run it again to get a baseline when you are dead hooking and go from there. ;)

Keep in mind that trap speed is often higher than usual when you're spinning in the 60'. Throw a set of DR's on there and you'll likely trap a little lower, but your E.T. will improve.

Dropping stock tires that low on psi
Can hurt your traction.
You need to find the right psi buy doing burnout's and inspecting the patch you laid
And if you have an open diff its not the tires fault.

My trap speed was 96.5 mph when I ran my 14.1 dead hooking. Just horrible. I think I had the worst trap speed of all low 14 second Mark8s on the list at that point. LOL I had even worse passes in the 14.3-1.4 range where my trap speed was only like 95mph. :p
