I'm sorry guy's but...is the Gen2 Heat/Ac controls the same as the Gen1? My buttons are all screwed up and broke as you know. Are the Gen2 plug and play with the Gen1?

You need a 95 hard button or revised 96 style unit. Units from the same year Continentals, Taurus SHO and Crown Vics (with upgraded climate control) will work as well. The Gen II units are not compatible as they will do funky things.

There was a hard button HVAC at carlisle for $40. I thought that seemed kind of high, so i didnt buy them.

They are around $30-$35 in JYs... $40 would be a steal for a new one

I agree. If it wasn't scratched on the face or anything, I would have jumped on that. They sell for more than that, almost double on eBay.

So, just to keep this going. 97 and higher will not work in a Gen 1 I believed I read.

So then from what I read is....a 95 hard button is the only one compatible with a 94? Then this.... "Units from the same year Continentals, Taurus SHO and Crown Vics" are also 95's and will plug and play on a 94?
Same year meaning 95 and 96 hard button units will fit all year gen I's.
No. The look the same but the internals are different.

For instance, I had a Gen 2 looking one in my 93, it was from a 96 Conti- it worked fine with 1 exception, it wouldn't auto-fan..so when I turned the AC on, I also had to go to the extra extreme lengths of extending my finger another inch and scroll the fan speed wheel
