Another LS tire thread - who's using what and do you like?

OK, when I first got the LS it had the worn OE Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 (Size: P235/50R17, Serv. Desc: 95V, UTQG: 300 AA).

I switched them out after a year to Yokohama YK520 tires (all season) which were decent but wore quickly and got really noisy as they aged.

Now that those are worn out I'm looking for another set that would be like the OE tires. The rating on the OE Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 tires are not that good so anyone use other tires brands/models that have similar OE load ratings that perform better than the OE tires?

2004 LS V8 Sport with stock wheels and ride height.

Thanks - I missed that one in my search...I saw one thread from someone in Ottawa and the funny thing is I noticed the one below the thread you posted (for winter tires) and moved on in my search.
 
I have Fuzion HRi 245/45/17 all seasons on the stocks and have no complaints with them.
 
I'm using a set of Hankook Ventus V12 245/40-19 and I'd like them to get here soon.

PS: I'm most likely going to be putting a set of 17" gently used for 1 1/2 season on Kijiji
for the Nations Capital. Cheap ...
 
Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position; 255/40/18 on my LS, 235/50/17 on my wife's. Love 'em.
 
Pay a visit to Simply Tire. Allen is a honest guy, he will steer you in the right direction.

Awesome grip, very short life

Since I really have no use for a near track ready tire that costs almost 400/ea, I will be switching to the Bridgestone re760 sport this spring
 
I have the Hankook Ventus V4ES on mine. They work really well when it's warm, and stick well rain or dry. When it's cold though, not so good. They thump until they warm up when the weather's cold, and it's annoying. Didn't really get a chance to drive in any snow but I can't see them doing all that great in more than an inch or two. Definitely a summer tire.
 
Guys I know with Fuzions on their Mustangs say the grip goes away quickly as the rubber ages - rubber get hard and traction suffers (which also affects braking). Heard good things about Conti's DWS on the Volvo forums but not sure about them on the larger LS.
 
Summer wheels - Fuzion zri, though probably switch to fire hawk next time around. Local tire shop can't find 245/35/19's anymore in the fuzions.

Winter wheels- winterforce. Way cheaper than. Blizzaks, and they've treated me well.

With the negative camber on my ls, the tires wear out WAY faster than what it would take for them to age. Ymmv, of course.
 
When I bought my LS it had some worn Yokohama S.drive's. Seemed like a decent tire for the condition they were in. I replaced those with some Toyo Proxes 4's (the original 4, not the newer 4 Plus) and to date I am happy with them. They grip well wet or dry and seem to be wearing pretty well. No snow this year, but plenty of slippery conditions and I never really had a problem.

I was looking at some of those mentioned in previous posts, but ran across a Craigslist deal on two Proxes 4's that I just could not pass up (cheap and under 300 miles). Les Schwab (Toyo's primary final sales house in this area) almost made me regret buying them, but then Discount Tire hooked me up with two more at a very good price and mounted all four. The drawback was I had too wait almost two weeks for them to get 2 of them in. Not a big deal except one of the Yok's was so bad that it was developing three separate sidewall bulges :eek:
