annoying chime??

ok my car has this annoying chime everytime i start the car up. it has 5 chimes then a pause, does this 5 times. no idioit lights are on. but i did notice that the power steering warning lamp doesn't light up when the key is turned to the on position? Please help.... I'm going to go crazy! all fluid levels are perfect.. EVERYTHING WORKS!

any help is much appreciated!
 
Lincoln wants 90 dollars just to put there scanner on it.. i need to talk to my brother in law. he works for a lincoln dealer. I dont even know if it will tell me anything is wrong
 
I know it has a auto mate remote start alarm on it... but i pulled the fuse and disarmed it and it still does it
 
power steering warning lamp should light up, i would check something along those lines
 
dont take it in... my car does the samething and i spent 78 dollars and they couldn't figure it out... i have a 2000 ls... and all lights work... me or any mechanic i have meet can not figure it out... i am guessing it is one of them its so simple its hard kinda things

but if you figure it out please let me know!!
 
Damn thats not what i wanted to here... anyone know where the speaker is for this damn beep. I will just disconnect it!
 
that happens to my ls. first the airbag lamp would go off, then the horn malfunctions, then the steering wheel controls, then the chimes. i f----n hate it. from what i've heard it's something called the clockspring.
 
Is there anything sitting on the passenger seat? Does is still beep when someone is sitting in the passenger seat and they have the seat belt on?
 
yes it still beeps. the only light that doesn't work is the power steering idiot light. Everything else works great! I'm going to pull the dash out this weekend and see what i can find.........

What is this power steering light? Is this something in the Gen I LS cars?

Actually that is the steering column lock light.

oh good to know.... I'm going to lock my steering wheel and see if it lights up!

I think it must be some kind of optional lock as that light on my 04 has never lit and a locking steering wheel is not listed as a separate option on my car. No lock on mine at all.
 
I thought the right hand Euro models were the only LS with the different key and steering wheel lock, I know my 2004 doesn't have one but there is a reference that GWL posted, to the warning light in the owner’s manual.
 
yea really lets stay on topic... the only thing i have found wrong with my car is the right backup light is out... Going to fix that and maybe thats all it is... God I hope SO!
 
I found the speaker on the back of my cluster... its like a metal tunnel. It cant just be unhooked but you could probably cut it and it wouldnt make noise anymore... I don't want to be the one to expierement with that. I wonder if it could just be turned of by the dealer?

If you found it then i have an answer for you....duct tape. Wrap the f*ck out of it with duct tape, doubt you'll hear it.
 
I would really just like to fix the problem... its hard to get to as well. I notice that when i turn on my marker lights, my head lights turn on... i wonder if its a problem with the window switch??? we will see
