Ok for QuikLS or anybody else who got good suggestions, im looking to add an aftermarket stereo system, from the ground up, in my 2000 LS V6, whats a good number i can get my alternator up to? 180amps? less? depending on how high i can get it rewound to depends on the system i get.

Ever think of going to a 1 farad cap? May be more cost effective than having to upgrade to a different alternator. Just depends on how serious you are going to go. 1 farad hold my sub amp very well. Putting 700 mono to the sub. No dimming of my lights.

the system setup i want will be 1200/2400w sub with 1250 amp, thats just one sub, plus i got 4 door speakers, im puttin a 8'' sub in the center behind the fan in the backseat where the rear fan blower is

so total is 2 subs totaling about 2-3000 watts, 2-3 amps totaling around 2000 watts, i know a alternator is gonna be required along with a 5 farad cap

which is why i wondered if there was an max amp that a lincoln can take, or is it just pretty much you can have whatever you need to power your electrical system, but thanks quikLS for the link, ill be lookin into them

Ahhh....I see now. The extra bit of communication would have indeed change my thoughts.
