Hey guys had to rejoin the forum after the Hijacking. But anyways had the 88 LSC on a little highway adventure tonight.Nothing fancy just some cruisin.I pulled into the parking lot where I was heading and heard some wierd squeeking when I would turn the wheel back and forth. Then when you drive slow when the car hits slight bounces it has an annoying squeeking.Get out of the car and push up and down on it and it squeeks all the same.I looked under it tonight and had my G/F turn the wheel back and forth and it sounded like it was coming from my Rack.Im hoping the heck not.Im hoping it just needs to be lubed up or something.Kinda odd for it to start all of the sudden though.Any hints or suggestions would help Thanks!!

I have the exact same problem, but for multiple reasons. I have an 89 MKVII with 189K miles on it. The power rack is shot, but the squeaking is comming from the lower control are bushings.

:W hi :Beer :soapbox: my vote is for the bushing,s( i,ve woked as a wrench at times and just about every car that came in to the shop with a squeek in the front end needed the upper or lower ( or both) control arm bushings----- next choice would be the strut bushings :dj: regards " kahuna "

There are quite a few pivot points on your front suspension that could be causing this noise. I've even hear dry ball joints make this noise.

I would start where these guys have pointed you to. Find a buddy to turn the wheel so you can find the cause of the noise. If you have any friends in the medical field, a stethoscope works VERY well locating noises!

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
