My friend mentioned to me my alarm went off for no reason in a parking garage but I figured he set it off somehow. This morning it went off twice by itself the second time was shorter. I have a good motorcraft battery with no signs of it dieing at all. Is this another issue with this car?? My steering memory has been an issue lately, I have to wait until the wheel finds its place before turning the key further or it will just stop where it was, perhaps that can set it off?

Do you ever get any random door or trunk ajar warnings? After you arm the alarm, try pushing on the hood a little to see if that will set it off.
I suppose the steering wheel issue could be related if you have a loose ground somewhere or a bad power circuit.

Mine have always done that. Once you turn the key it cancels the memory return. If you notice, the seat stops moving also.

That's weird. I waited to comment until I had double checked. On both of mine (04 and 06), the steering wheel and seats keep moving to position while I am starting it. It would be annoying to have to wait for them if they didn't. How about your windows? Mine keep going (auto up, down, and roof) while starting too.

I was going from memory. I just tried and they do keep moving. Maybe I should pay more attention!!!!!!!!

I should pay more attention........ Thanks for the correction and making me look!

If I remove the key before the wheel moves all the way it loses it's memory. Same for the windows if they are in auto 'up', one or the other will either stop or go back down.

Mine just returns to the easy exit position. My windows don't care if the key is in or out.
I still think you have a power circuit or ground problem.

sorry to jack,

On the 01 is the drivers window supposed to be able to go back up by itself as in AUTO, mine only rolls it all the way down in AUTO.
I had seen/read this before and tried it to no avail and just though it was some misconstructed information.

I had even seen the reteach/relearn method but I can't get it to go all the way back up by itself after double switching.

Can anyone confirm for the 01 AUTO up window ?

No auto-up in the 1st Gens.........

Perfect!!! one less item to break!!! lol

I just had to run into town quickly and tried it some more and even the reset all the way up and holding, ZERO success,
I thought either broken or not an option.

not only was auto up one of the 500+ improvements between generations, but 2nd gen also got auto up and down for BOTH windows!

that would drive me crazy every time leaving a drive through, checking to make sure all the food was in the bag, AND having to hold the switch up the entire time. almost as stupid as a ninja cup holder.

Wellll...... There was an issue with the required auto-stop........

Thats' the problem with todays CHEESEBURGER society, too lazy!!!
I'm sure one would/could manage a button and a bag at the same time.

one of course could do both at the same time, but throw in having to navigate the car away from the window at the same time. not having to hold a button while doing so just makes sense.

Loud, you are right 100% we have it so hard in todays times, recall the time when we had to club a woman over the head and drag them 6 miles to get what we wanted. They've replaced that with one little pill these days.

If I could walk into a downtown building and the elevator was there with the doors open and waiting for me, that would be swell but we know that's not meant to happen either. In life we must push buttons to achieve desired results.

Eventually we'll all own a pair of Google Glasses and active everything by voice commands.

:: Drivers Window UP
:: Continue AUTOROUTE

:: Home temperature SET 72
:: Driveway lights ON
:: TV ON

Work smarter, not harder.

on a side note, why they even call them roofies? Why not floories, right? 'Cause when you take them, you're more likely to end up on the floor than the roof...

<shrugs> I have no idea, I don't have much experience with pills, I'm old skool and still use the old wooden slugger.

~ I think they are called roofies because the next day when they find out, they hit the roof!

Confession.

Your alarm is "not" going off for no reason. I just really want some rear factory subs.

Security System on my '08 Towncar started going off in the middle of the night by itself. I have to keep a remote on the bedside table to deactivate it and I'm sure the neighbors are starting to hate me:shifty:

at my old apartment, there was a parking lot 15' from the window for near by businesses , and this same guy would park right there a couple of times a week. well about every other hour or so, his OEM alarm would keep going off. after a couple of nights, I was kind enough to leave him a note to let him know that he had a problem with his car and he should probably have it looked at.

well about a week and a half later...

he now has a horn problem:shifty:
