Hey guys, i've got yet another tough question. the air ride in my 96 mark viii is malfunctioning intermittently. Only after not being driven for a day or so. And recently the car will sink overnight, and after I start, the front will rise, and not the back. After I turn off the car and restart, the back will go up in about a minute or so. ANY help will be great and you guys have been 2 for 2 with weird questions! Thanks in advance.

You have a weak pump and bags in the front with extreme leaks. By the time your compressor gets the front pumped up, it has timed out and then you are having to restart it to get the rear up. Your rears could also be leaking but I'm sure your compressor is ready to give out and it will if it keeps having to raise up the front over and over.

Either buy new front air shocks for about $305 each on average and a new compressor, or jerk it out and convert over to coils like some do. Me, I spend, wait, spent the money for air but that's my preference. Others, they do what they do with their cars. If you are interested in fixing it and keeping your air ride, the links below are going to be the cheapest you'll find. Believe me, I have searched and searched and they quit production of the Motorcraft air shocks in 2010. When they're gone, they're gone.

I have also put in new front air shocks, pump, and dryer 5 years ago and so far not a problem since.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. Seems expensive, but oh well!! I'll let you know what happens.
