Air Ride WTF!!!

I have to be the only person who had 17 year old bags. I saw the original owner today. He asked about the Mark. I told him I just got all the parts to convert the suspension to a lowered thunderbird set-up. I said I was waiting for something to go wrong with the bags or compressor and such before I changed them out. I assumed that he had the bags done before I bought it, but he said today that he never had. The car has 90,000 miles and when it sits for six months the bags lose a little air but nothing major. Has anyone else had their bags last forever like this? Seems odd that a car known for air ride problems has never had any.
 
Garage kept and wash and maintained..low heat...all aide in helping them last longer..I wouldn't be surprised if you're about the only one with no problems
 
My 93 is on it's original bags ... checked them out the other day ... looking good ... again these haven't seen much winter driving ... They'll get a good bath before they go to bed for the winter.
 
I had three cars (including this one) with original air ride, and never any problems, 92 Grand Marquis, 92 Lincoln Mark VII, and my 98 Lincoln Mark VIII. The only one I had to convert was the Grand Marquis and that was because the dip stick at the muffler shop set the car down and all I POOOOFFF, then a couple of weeks later I'm driving with one side scraping the pavement

3 out of my 4 are original, and ask anyone who knows me, I work the hell out of those stockers, oh and 175k too :D
 
That is pretty cool, usually you hear problems like replacing them and then they go out like 20,000 miles later. The car has never seen snow or salt, rarely driven and garage kept its whole life. I kinda wish they would take a crap so I could put my new stuff on. I guess I might just swap it all out this winter anyway.
 
Fukk springs! Ill never convert, oh and the one bag I replaced was with a spare one I had lying around from a junk yard so who knows how old that one is. And the car was a DD till about 2 maybe 3 years ago and trust me she saw lots of snow and salt
 
I liked the eibachs I had on my stang, so I thought I would try them on the Mark. The air ride is not very consistant in my car. Sometimes it rides like :q:q:q:q. I can't have anymore than 35 pounds of air in the tires or it rides terrible too.
 
You shouldn't need more that 35 in youre tires. And my bags in the chamelion are original. And I will learn more of this conditioner when I see you KK.
 
The front springs on my '96 have been replaced three times. So far, the last set of Arnotts I installed in Jan. 2009 have been doing fine (knock on wood), but the original 16 year old rears just gave up the ghost. Too many dryrot cracks. They just won't hold air anymore. I got a set from a member here and I should have them installed this Saturday. I don't know for sure, but I think the front and rear springs on my wife's '97 LSC are original. And they're fine. So far. I think I'll try some of that Meguiare's #40 on both Marks. I've been using silicone spray on the springs for some time.
 
Both the Firestone engineer and the Goodyear engineer I've worked with over the years claim that there is nothing better for the rubber air bladders than silicone spray. Don't use any cleaner, as this can take the natural moisturizers out of the rubber. Just wipe clean with a dry rag and spray the crap out of the rubber.

If this was done from day one, I think an air strut/spring could last 20-30 years!
 
My front bags are original, the rears I got from Eddie above.

I replaced them about 2 years ago.

Thanks Eddie ... the Mark Destroyer will try to keep the 93 on air for as long as I can.

I'm hoping that the Adrenaline I purchased from you will keep all running much longer. I recommend to anyone with air ride ... get Eddie's Adrenaline system to keep your air ride going.

Oh and Brent love the sig pic. I always like how air ride looks on a lunch.
 
my 93 has the originals, my 98 sprung a leak in february, I keep it lowered though, even with the new ones installed :shifty:

I have a 93 that is a pain on this air ride. What is the status of the new compressor? I have not seen it on your web site. Sometimes my compressor runs, most of the time it doesn't. Star tester said one or more of the corners is flat, DUH. Seemed to self test fine, cp ran, all solenoids clicked, etc. Ready for that new, awesome compressor! The only problem I have ever had with my air suspension is I think the solenoids! Whatever it is that does all the clicking and going crazy when you turn on the key. Not the compressor because it would kick on and off rapidly so I think it was the solenoids. I have had pretty good luck with the bags. And that was on a 1993! My 97 that I have now has the originals and it does'nt even have an engine or battery in it and they are doing good. Have'nt had a battery in the car for 2 years now and they have'nt deflated at all!!!

One is on my 93 ... You should send this in a PM to Eddie or an e-mail ... not everyone comes back to threads.
