Air Ride suggestions? At my wits end here..

I love the airride and have always been of the opinion that if I wanted springs I'd buy a Thunderbird, but I have no car besides this one right now. Couldn't I just put the springs on leaving the existing airride components intact and when I do buy another car, work on restoring the Mark back to Air?

Well, if you end up going that route, I'm sure that you could recoup alot of that money by selling some of those parts. If that's what you end up doing. Dang, almost forgot, doesn't Eddie have a scanner or something for the air ride system? yep, here it is

I just googled it, there's one on ebay right now but they want 300 buy it now. I don't know how effective these things are though.

I just bought the air compressor from Eddie 2 weeks ago, the bags are Arnott and I got the solenoids from Strutmasters. The sensors, computer and relays are ebay parts except for the originals which I don't think are bad to begin with.

Sure you can. You could completely remove the sensors & tuck your wires & lines behind the fender liner. just tape the ends of the lines up real good.

Eddie also sells a device that you remove the solenoid from the bag, insert this "chuck" for lack of a better term, then plug an air hose into the bag and inflate.

I think you would need one for each corner, but would be an alternative to coils, and would allow you to "pump up" the system when you need to.

I just checked his site, and I dont see them listed anymore, you might have to call him to inquire

Help is on the way.....LOL...wish me luck and thanks for all the help, it's truly been appreciated so far.

TJ, I'm sorry it came down to this.

this is about the first time that we weren't able to solve an air ride issue when the owner was willing to go the "full distance".

Thanks for TRYING, sorry it didn't work out bro.
and sorry it cost you so damned much money.

I know I'll probably find something stupid that was easy to fix when I put the springs on, and that's ok. Maybe I'll find a Gen I Mark to put in my corral that needs more TLC and I'll have all the air ride parts to have one of each on the road =)

It's ok, I LOVE my Mark VIII and am willing to do whatever it takes to keep her on the road. I'm finally getting my wish and found a house with a nice big garage so over the summer she'll be fun on springs and next fall I'll start giving her the attention she needs.

The money isn't all that bad, it was alot but I ordered the shocks and mounts with the kit as well. Once this conversion kit goes on, the whole suspension from front to rear will be brand new.

I'd rather keep maintaining a car I love to drive than make a payment on something new.

How much for the brand new bags you just bought?

I'll keep you first on my list if I do decide to sell them and any other of the air suspension parts. I really do want the air ride back and will go that way either on my 98 or with a Gen I if I see one that needs some loving for a good price. Thanks for asking though.

damn that sux TJ, how long can you hold out (are the springs on yet) cuz now that i have no job i thought i could be the traveling mechanic helping out lincoln owners in the area (10 years ford experience, and self proclaimed air susp genius!!!!!)

The front springs are on, I have been in the middle of moving to a new house as well so I had to split my time on getting the car driveable to the new house and getting the stuff moved from the old apartment. Thanks for the offer, I truly appreciate it. In the coming weeks I have to get the rear springs and shocks put on, new moog swaybar links, rear addco swaybar and then start doing body work and prepping for paint. I have a beater with a heater (and A/C too LOL) so I have breathing room to work on the Mark.

The biggest thing that is driving me nuts is the trim on the bottom of the driver's seat has broken in the front where it screws in. I have had no luck finding a replacement for that piece, has anyone had any luck epoxying that piece back together. The piece I am referring to is the one with the seat controls mounted to it.

damn and i wanted to catch you before you ruin your car (J/K lolol) as for the seat trim, i loosened the seat switches and ran a zip tie between the switches and the trim, then tighten the switches back down and find some non moving part of the seat frame and zip tied around it, viola good as new
