So what I remember from when I last drove my Mark (It's been a long long long time) if the air ride compressor was running and I stepped on the brake pedal activating the neon the compressor would "bog". This leads me to believe that the factory Mark electrical is a little taxed or the wiring running to the compressor is inadequate.

I know when Chicken did his twin compressor swap he "hot wired" the compressors directly to the battery. Does anyone think there would be an advantage to doing this with the single stock compressor?

Lols... I'm getting ready to upgrade my battery cables and am trying to decide if I'm going to do any other wiring upgrades.

I've thought about this as well, mine does the same thing but I don't know if it would make that big of a difference. Your better bet would probably be to upgrade your cables and your alternator. The alternator on our cars isn't really big enough, it really should be about 200 amps but FoMoCo did as they always do and put one that is just enough. With all the electronics on our cars, it should have been bigger.

It's not only on the second gens.. my first gen did that too.

I dont think the guage of the compressor wires is the problem though.
it just seems the additional load of the brake lights adds enough load to be audible in the compressor.

The cooling fan has the same effect..as do the interior lights
If you cycle the interior lights while the compressor is running you can hear it..doing the same thing

ALTEAST On my crappy cars it does..haha

Wow... well I'm just waiting for the guy who is making my upgraded cables to build them and I will throw them on give a full report of any noticeable differences it makes.

I've been debating on running a 4 gauge wire from the alternator straight to the battery and upgrading my ground wire, but I just haven't done it yet, everything is so tight around the battery that finding a good solid place that I'm happy with has been a pain.

id say the "big 3 wire upgrade" should help you out, more than anything. and the twins arnt hot wired to the battery, they are wired to a starter solenoid, and then to the batt :D i only rewired the twins cuz i knew pulling that many amps through the stock air comp relay, it wouldnt last long

how often are you standing on the brakes and the compressor is running at the same time, its not very often unless you like to drive around town over 55 mph then smash on the brakes for red lights or stop signs. like said above if it aint broke dont fix it, its lasted this long right?? upgrade the alternator.
