i am making an air ram for my 2002 ls6, its just a prototype but i think it will do the work. i dont want mor hp or anything, i just want a smoother ride and more response, i read air rams do that. this is the prototype, i will add thermal insulation or whatever its called, and black paint. let me know what you think.

i know my engine bay is dead dirty, but its because it has been raining and lots of dirt and water everywhere. but i clean it when i finish the project. do you have any recomendations or suggestions for engine wash?

you weren't kidding, that is one dirty engine bay. talk to Pete, he'll tell you what to use.

Good idea on materials to use. I just used the stock air box.

You really put that piece of ghetto engineering into your LS? Got the right idea just coulda used better material.

Was that the top of a 2 litre bottle I saw in there? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Fail.

its a good idea, just need better materials other than that good job

its a 5 litter bottle:P not 2.
i and i used it because it has the same diameter as the hose.

mmmm i think it will work, when i was driving i took the hose out and grabbed the other end pointing it to y face and i could feel a lot of air at normal speed:O
and a bigger hose wont fit.
im just going to finish the prototype and test it, ill let you know. if i dont notice any difference im just gonna sell it to my stupid honda civic drivers friends

i was going to use harder plastic but i think that would grab more air
stop making fun of me:(
i was very exited to contribute with pics and ideas to LVC
but ok i wont do that now.

It seems like a 3 liter would be a better match for the V6.

those are too hard to find, they dont sell them across the entire country (the only place that i have ever seen them was Tennessee and Alabama)

Come on, don't get mad. I'm just having a little fun at your expense. I'd love it if this worked great and I had to eat my words. :)

Joegr, that is genious.

can i have like a REAL and USEFUL opinion please?
why cant you guys say something to know if i should continue or not. useful stuff

yeah i live in mexico, in the border with el paso, texas.
the most violent city on earth. Cd. Juarez

why where you under the hood while somebody else was driving the car, that just sounds dangerous!

and a bigger hose wont fit.
then time to find a different cone, think of it this way, look at how big the tube is coming off of the motor, its much much bigger, lets say for simplistic purposes that the inside cross sectional area of your tube is 1/4 the size of the stock intake tube (which by the looks of it is pretty close) the air in you tube would have to travel 4 times faster just to keep up with how much air the motor sucks in on it own and give no performance increase at all. not to mention all of the turbulence from the tube not being smooth.

no no i took the hose out while i was driving my own car, i took it out of the window.
i thought that this would work this way:
the hose is going to re-direct air to the airbox, so inside the airbox will be more airflow that the engine can suck. that doesnt work that way?

should i continue my project?

That hose is pretty small, and being corrugated does not help either.

you do know that the cold air kits that the big companies sell come with corrugated plastic piping just like he is using right? aside from the full cold air ram intake that are made of metal pipe, most use black plastic corrugated piping and stamp the company logo on it and call it a day. not saying its the right material to use, just stating some facts
