Aiming headlights...wtf?

So, I had my new headlight housings installed. I noticed immediately that they aim right on low beam. I adjusted them left, and now the low beams are working pretty well. HERE'S THE PROBLEM: When I turn on the high-beams, they shoot FAR left! Are the beam supposed to criss-cross or something? The same thing happened with the old headlights (but they were yellowed, hence the replacement). And tricks on how to remedy this? I HATE the idea of having to pick between working low beams and high beams! Help!
 
When I had my new housings installed, it was with the HIDs. I had them align them right there in their shop. Can you return to your installer for help. If not, Goodyear or the like should be able to help you.
 
Throw an HID kit in the highbeams. At that point, theres so much light it doesn't matter where its pointed. :cool:
 
Take it to the installer...install an HID kit... Come on guys. I guess I should have said it. I'm on a road trip right now. I need them to work, so all I need to know is if there is some crazy criss-cross type of alignment I need to do with these. If it can't be done with a ratchet and 4mm socket, I can't do it right now. Any solutions that fill those brackets?
 
Can't say I have ever noticed where the high beams point. (as I only ever use them for flashing)

Not sure what you want us to do? There's only one up / down adjuster and one right / left adjuster on each housing, so all you can do is set up the alignment to optimize one set of beams, or the other.

I'd just set them up to be 'perfect' on low beam, being there is no independent adjuster for high beam.
 
right now i have my low beams in the high beam spot because all of the chrome is flaked off of the lows, i adjusted them to where the bubbles are dead on and they shine out about 8 feet in front of me......who thought up the crappy lights in the gen 1 marks anyways???
 
my lows and highs point to the same place,give or take an inch i would say.

maybe the bulbs are sitting cockeyed in the socket or something??

I have the new halogen housings with HID kit from mafioso in the low beam. There is minimal change between the low beam and high and I spend a good amount of time aligning them after the install.
 
Well, I spent some time in an empty parking lot at about 0300 this morning fiddling with it. I checked out the bulbs and made sure they were sitting square in their holes (they were). I think I figured something out though: It's not necessarily that they were shooting WAY left, but I found the right headlight (according to the bubble level anyway) was pointed WAY down. So, if the right headlight was cranked up as far, they'd be spread evenly over left AND right shoulders. I've got the low-beams working GREAT, but both headlights are cranked WAY to the left to do it. This is just weird.
 
i also noticed that about the bubble last night. i was out re-adjusting my lights at 1 am and noticed that in order to get the lights to shine in the right spot they were higher than where the bubble said they should be at. im wondering if it has anything to do with the lowered coil swap i did???

Absolutely!

If the car is now 1.5'' lower (or more) then the lights would have to be raised up some, to compensate.
