Aftermarket HID Wiring Alternatives

I had my HID's wired to a relay, and to somce gold resistors to trick the SCIL. Well the wire from one of those resistors burned the wire off, and my lights aren't coming on anymore. Are there any other ways to wire up the lights?

Skip the relays. Take the 12v from the stock ballast and wire it to your aftermarket ballast directly. I run mine this way and I don't get any "headlight out" messages and they turn on automatically.

good to know...that's how I would have done it when I eventually run out of good factory bulbs and ballasts

While i believe that what Sapperfire said was perfectly reasonable (especially for someone that's been a member here as long as you have), I'll tell you what I did for my 97....

Unplug your stock ballasts. Cut off the plugs that plug in down by the base of the radiator off of the ballasts and solder them to the harness that comes with your HID kit like I have pictured below. Cut off as much as you can so that you're sure to have enough length.

Do this for BOTH sides, don't just use one.

Now you can just plug and play. If you get a quality HID kit, you won't get the lamp out warning. My DDM kit has worked flawlessly for 2-3 years now. Always lighting on the first try, and no warnings.

Ok I just installed the aftermarket hids with the derlin adapters. I'm having an issue that they are pointing way too high and they are adjusted all the way down. And my high beams are lower than the regular beam.

Yeah I asked that question so I know how to adjust. Lol I'm saying now they are too high. And adjusted all the way down has anyone had this problem?

I got rid of all the relays and they light up beautifully.

With a gen 2 which comes with HIDs I would not worry much. With a gen 1 you need the relays as more than a few have toasted the light switch with the extra start power needed.

I really doubt the relay was your problem, they are very simple and reliable. It's usually some 'backyard' standard of wiring that is the problem.

Installed wrong but fixed already.

not good in these electronic workouts so can you share some diagram of wiring these lights? I am getting new ones very soon
