Hello. Well I FINALLY got my AC lines hooked up. I am sure it will all explode, but before I buy all new parts I figured I may as well fill it and see.

I know it has to be vacuumed out. At which point I will also do the basic leak test and make sure it holds a vacuum.

But when I re-fill, how many ounces of refrigerant do I use? Any clue at all? I will have to add some oil - that I know. But I want to have enough cans on hand of refrigerant.

And yes I searched but could not find a good answer.....

Just had a look on alldatadiy for my 93' Says: oil: 7 oz Refrigerant: 34 oz (2.125lbs)

Just had mine leak tested in m y 94 The system was open for a few years The conections to the condensor were fine I replaced the o rings.
  It lasted for two days. The compessor is leaking:eek:
So more parts are orderd.

Two smal cans are enough to test the system..... Good luck.

LOL.... sounds like mine. I did not have the two lines in since I got the car back on the road last fall. I cleaned all the connections, put new o-rings on, but there is only so much crap I could clean out of the open ports.

I priced all new (compressor reman) at Rock auto and it came to almost a $1000.00 if I need to replace it all. And with systems like this, its almost best to replace the whole thing.

We shall see what happens. The heat does not bug me much, its winter driving. Without AC the windows frost up since the air being drawn in is not dried out.

I have a reman compressor 190.00 and a accumilator dryer thing 60.00 now I wait to get time off work.:D :D
