A n00b questin, where to get new rear window?

I asked a mobile window guy and he said they can replace the window seal, but they make you sign a waiver just in case they "accidentally" break the window in the process and then it would be about $450 for a replacement.

Yeah they have to, but the backglass is easy to extract without breaking. It's tempered glass, unlike the windshield which is laminated and easy to break. I've been a glass guy for over 30 years, and every shop I've worked in has that same policy with customer windshield or backglass removal.
Anybody going this route should ask to see the new molding that's going on the glass (molding is the term for what you guys are calling the "seal", it's not a seal it's strictly cosmetic). Because it's gonna be aftermarket, as the original Carlite replacement glass comes with the molding attached, not available separately. Which is fine, but make sure he doesn't use some kind of "universal" crap that's going to look like ass when the backglass is reinstalled.

Also, I checked the book on a Mark VIII backglass and our shop's cost is 380. Add markup to that and labor and 450 is a helluva price. That's assuming he's using factory replacement glass (Carlite) and not some cheap chinese knock-off.
