You're right. As a matter of fact, I took a picture of the tag on the good tranny at a MarkVIII meet and it is indeed PKE-AD. It also has an OEM number on that tag which says "F8LP-7000-AA" which will also be on the Mark VIII transmissions.
BUT, neither one of those numbers will be found on the tag of my transmission because it is a 99 Crown Victoria civilian model transmission. So, does it have to be a PKE-AD?? Technically no. It just has to be 98 and newer transmission and have the correct tailshaft length and number of teeth on the output shaft. PKE-AD isn't the only transmission out there with upgraded internals.

I couldn't tell you which Crown Vic civilian model transmission I have, but it fit. Another nice thing about civilian model vics, almost ALWAYS elderly owners.
