98 Mark- Rear Shocks

I want to know if I could use the factory shocks along with the strutmaster coil conversion kit. Air system a real pain in the butt and wallet! They say yes I just want to make sure its just a regular shock on the rear.

You can use a few rear shock absorbers in the back. They are not integrated into the air bag.

dont go looking at factory shocks unless you want to spend almost as much for them as you did for the coil conversion!! buy rear shocks for a 96 thunderbird, gabriel's, monroe's, bilstein's, KYB's, plenty of options for wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy less than factory.

IIRC i think the lower bushing from the Tbird shock have a smaller bolt, and i believe the bushing needs to be swapped with the appropriate one but i could be wrong

The lower shock bolts are the same diameter.

i have done about 14 t-bird shock deals with mark VIII's but i only ran into a problem on my 93 when i bought garbiel shocks for a t-bird it was smaller, easy fix though.

Jamie, Where did you get the bushings? Part #? Koni lower bushings are junk, and I want to replace them.

i will see if i can find out, i cannot remember i have a huge zip lock bag filled with various shock bushings and they were in it with new sleeves. i will see if the paper tag is still in the bag with any numbers on it, i honestly cannot remember where they came from, but i knew saving them would be worth it some day!!!!

LOL!

Delrin isn't the right material for shock bushings, they need to have some give to them.

Poly is better suited to being molded, not machined.

If I have to, I'll get a hold of some poly and make some, but I'd rather not reinvent the wheel.

They are kinda pricey, but I like my Edelbrock shocks.
