Hello,

About 3-4 weeks ago my 98 started and immediately died. Took 2-3 starts and a heavy foot to get it started. Once it was running everything was fine. It's now happened 2-3 times since and died on my wife at a stop light. Each time it has started again and been fine.

So, I'm guessing it's the IAC or fuel pump. However, there has never been a CEL and no codes show up. Going to do a fuel pressure test today before I start throwing random parts at it. Just checking here to see if I might be missing something since there are no codes or CEL.

Thanks!

AFter many years, the iac valve could fail or carbon up. You can clean it and see if it helps. IF you have a lot of miles, the stock fuel pump could be going out, or have a clogged sock. A pressure check is the best first idea.

OK, guessing it's the IAC...

Pressure test came out OK. Steady at 31-32 psi. Wondering if this is a little low? Even so, probably not the culprit.

I would say the IAC also. Mine would do the same thing when it was first started cold and it would try to die out on me and sometimes did but with a few pumps on the pedal, it would stay running fine but with a low idle. Put a new IAC in and now it can set for days and be started without doing anything except turning the key. Cranks right up and goes into about 1000 to 1100 rpm and then lowers itself down to around 750. Just be glad you can get to your IAC easily.
