97 Mark VIII

My 97 has a message that says Distance Data Error. ABS Light is on and Speedo and odometer do not work
The odometer just shows ============
Where do I start to look It happened after my Battery went bad

The first thing I would do is to have the codes read for free at AutoZone or somewhere like that and see what shows up. Things it could be are bad VSS, ABS (or wiring for ABS) module, or speed sensor. ABS module is in the front, behind the fender well lining on drivers side, and is most likely your problem, but I'm guessing. The wiring at the ABS module is known for being corroded over time. It might be that simple. Unplug it, and plug it back in, and check connections at your speed sensors and VSS sensor on drivers side transmission
