Hi, I am trying to do something on a budget to improve the appearance of my pitted 97 base silver directional wheels I used the search function but couldn't find much idea wise as to what was best. I have considered getting them chromed but don't know how to go about doing that with no electro-plating in my area, or to maybe plasti-dip the wheels or something of this nature. I know for sure spray chrome is crap on wheels, if anyone could please post some pictures of improvements or re-sprays you have done to your factory directional wheels. any and all input is greatly appreciated. octastars would be the ultimate but with the money I have now finding a good set is near impossible. thanks for everyones help,

-Travis

I've seen some nice sets at JYs. I dont know how the yards are in Florida or what your budget is. The sets I saw here in Texas were less than $150. You'll spend at least double that getting them chromed plus the double shipping fee.

Chestnut has/had some Octastars for sale; he lives in South Georgia; as I recall his price was very reasonable..but s/h is what it is...alot

I already love this forums , thanks to all of you, you are all very helpful. I love the willow green mark btw. id have to agree with what everyone else is saying I think I will just hold out on cheap rims and save up for a set of chrome cobra r's or octastars. I think ill spend what little bit of money I have now on some cobra star emblems and something else, or some cheap mufflers and a x pipe. I need to get that exhaust done soon, hopefully with that and the j mod im about to do ill feel a good seat of the pants improvement too. thanks again to everyone who replied.

KeVIIIn, - dude your LSC is so sweet! I LOVE it I haven't seen hardly any actual LSC in that color, I have always wanted an evergreen Gen 2 LSC as my second car but my mind might be changing now.

if you can manage to do a hub swap, there will be a ton of used Mustang (5x4.5'') bolt pattern rims available to ya..just remember to consider the offset

Thanks man! The reason you haven't seen any willow green LSCs is because it wasn't a color choice for 95 or 96 LSCs. My car actually started life as a base, I painted lsc bumpers and trim to match and added lsc headlights. Lincoln did offer deep jewel green as a color choice on 95 LSCs which is very close in color to willow green, but I would imagine they are very rare and hard to find..I've never seen one at least. As far as your rims go if you're looking for a quick cheap fix maybe just paint yours, not sure on what color your car is but black usually looks good on most colors or maybe a dark gray..better than seeing pitting and flaking paint. I would just sand and paint the whole thing and leave the lip silver or maybe try polishing it.

yeah man, i was looking at the temple performance (dennis reinhart) wheels just for that reason they come in the 4.25 back spacing. thanks tho ! what color is your gen 1 btw? How much faster does it feel with exhaust and an SCT tune?

KeVIIIn - makes sense! thats like my car, 1997 only color pewter metallic, dont think ive ever seen an LSC that was genuine in my factory color, but i could be mistaken, i absolutley love your Cobra R's

5x4.25 (also 5x108) bolt spacing.

4.25 back spacing would make the wheels stick out like a 4x4. yikes!

what John Temple sells at Temple Performance ain't cheap, but it is nice stuff.

there is a small aftermarket selection in the 5x108 pattern. so wheels are out there, but we don't have the selection that, say a mustang does.

(actually, we do, as mentioned. but that's another story.)

I am going to get a set of my rims straightened and wile looking at the site they do a PVD coating on rims that looks like this. Has a 5 year warranty on em too! Plus they have 4 locations on Fla.

Chestnut - if i had a way up there i would get them in literally 2.2 seconds. as of now the mark is down :( i had to get a small loan and i am getting the upper and lower ball joints, upper and lower control arms, and upper and lower strut rod bushings along with a tranny flush, j mod, and installation of my B&M Super cooler soon , That being said This is a GREAT deal. thank you so much for the offer, id ask you to ship but i really dont know how much shipping would be or how you would feel about that.

I shipped a set of 16x7 xr7 rims to california from here in chicago for around $40..really not that bad they are about the same weight as any stock mark wheel..obviously they would have to dismount tires if they are still on the rims before shipping it.

My trans never leaked...I had the Ford stealership change the fluid (not flush or actually SERVICE) the trans at 166k...it's leaked ever since...it was serviced previously at 115k- first time

If you're doing upper control arms and lower control arms.. those come WITH the ball joints already loaded in them. Sounds like you're having a shop do the work.. just make sure they don't charge for BJ r/r if you're paying for UCA/LCA as well.

And you don't have "upper and lower" strut rod bushings, you've got forward and rear :)

Sapperfire - i know lol , iwas just posting out everything too lengthy i guess lol. i am gonna have ford do it. 460$ installed

2002wrxsti - that seems very interesting im gonna have to look more into that .

$460 for all that work you listed sounds too good to be true...? up/low CA's, SRB's, j-mod, trans cooler and flush seems like it would be over $400 just in parts
---you may want to also consider sway bars, in/out tie rod ends for a full front end rebuild? that's what I'm looking at doing along along with my coil convert on the white '96 at 109k...
does anyone any other suggestion besides Rk Auto for parts?

Well I just went to the place in the pouring rain yesterday with my rims to have them straightened. I get to the place and he tells me they are bent on the outside face so I can't fix them

Fun day in the rain tho seeing nothing but wrecks
