Didn't work in the first place, that and i live in WI, doesn't get that hot anyways.. heated seats on the other hand would have been nice, but i won't drive it in winter anymore anyways

lol, about that, i had gotten pulled over for illegal tint and ripped it off my back window, it took some of the wiring with it, so i don't have a rear window defroster

I'm talking about the front. window. The AC system is still needed to defog the front windshield when to much humidity builds up and it steams up. Even though you are in Wisconsin, it works together with the heater to get the ice off. Unless you like scraping.

FYI

You do know that the AC system is needed for the window defroster to work.

Huh?

I've owned 14 or so cars, only one ever had working A/C - window defrosting worked just fine? Some cars still don't even have A/C from factory. I'm sure A/C speeds up the process, but by no means is it needed.

I would rather have it so I don't have to have a towel wiping down the windshield.

i actually got rid of the unit for any of the heater defroster ac controls, i actually have toggles there now and a push button, i have a switch stricly to turn the blower motor on and it is set for the defrost stage, but i most likely will only drive it when it is nice out... and definately not when there is ice out

so for the people with an sct chip, or any chip in fact, how do you clean the underside of the cpu chip, and do you use contact cleaner

ok, i removed the cover already, but I just couldnt figure out how to get to the bottom, it didn't look like the chip comes all the way out

the pcm, i am going to install an sct chip to it, i got the bottom black plastic cover off too, but there is that grease like stuff over the contact points on the bottom as well

And from your other post:

so how do you clean the bottom of the part of the chip, i had one suggestion of cleaning it with a razor blade

If you're going to ask questions and expect to get good answers, then you need to use the correct terms.

You are not cleaning the "chip". you're trying to clean the J3 PCM connector that the chip plugs on to.

As I said before, I use a razor blade (carefully) to scape off the sealant and then use contact cleaner to remove the rest. I have later model PCM's that have a rubberized coating on the connector, some earlier PCM's are just covered in grease, which can be removed with the contact cleaner.

HERE are instructions from SCT.

That was super useful, thanks, never really knew what that part was called. one more question, i have the z4ho pcm, does any of that even matter now that i have a sct chip???

The program on the chip needs to have been written for the Z4H0 PCM.
