I have decided instead of posting a new thread everytime I decided to hop on the bandwagon and make a progress thread for my newly acquired 94 convertible. Ill try to update the post as I replace\restore parts, and ill try to include pics whenever possible

If you havnt already read the back story on it, here is the original post:

As of 1-3-09 The air ride is back to normal. I swapped in a newish compressor, drivers air strut, and compressor relay, and everything is good to go as far as the air ride is concerned. Here is a pic I took of it today.

A special thanks to Brandon, Chicken, Tommy, and Jeb for helping me sort thing out this far.

i know whats next, mount the chrome 20 spokes tomorrow and get buffing the damn thing lol, clay bar it first, man i would love to team up with KK and detail the hell out of that thing, i just bought a brand new buffer too, used the old one so much i burnt it up!

Looks much better Chris, the easy part is done. :D

In your other thread you said that you had a blown rear speaker. 2 of my 94's sounded like they were blown, but it was just the rotted foam gasket between the grille and trim peice. The speaker in the green car was loose too. I replaced the gaskets with a peice of black T shirt, cut to the same shape as the gasket.

If the speaker sounds like its rattling with the bass, just hold your hand on the grill, if it goes away, that's all it is.

Beautiful car.... That'd be my first choice for a restoration too.

So whats next??

get the 20 spokes mounted, and then it will probably go into hibernation. Ill start collecting parts for it here real soon and then hit it hard in the spring.

Im not even going to waste my time buffing it. Im going to paint it in the spring.

Thanks for the tip. Ill give that a shot tomorrow and see what happens.

you said its not a jbl system, its the 4 speaker premium sound, the speakers are junk, i'll put money on it, this is what they look like, this is what happens to all the premium sound speakers...

Holy crap! Foam speaker surrounds? That was the dumbest idea that speaker manufacturers ever had. I was hoping by 94 that they figured that out.

I've seen many old (and expensive) home speakers destroyed like that.

The old Bose 901's were one of the first ones I've seen destroyed like that. To fix them, you would have to replace 9 drivers on each speaker (I think it was 9).

i should make a progress thread too, heres a pic of my car covered im snow., and heres where i cleared off the snow around the door to get in since the wife said she knows the cd book was in the car......nope, went through pass side cuz driver side handle is frozen, and i dont wanna break it

anyways back to the thread looks good k9

LOL ^^^ Its snowed one time here in KY, even then it didnt cover the car.

Anyway, so does the vert need any bodywork or will it be a scuff and shoot?

Nice!

It will look amazing when it is all done!

I'll come detail it after you paint and it and show you just how good black can look :)

ya there are some dings and scratches, so it will be a little more involved then just a scuff and shoot, but its nothing I dont feel comfortable doing myself.

CHICAGO-IL.>weather

can't stand this cold and snow,,now I'm really not in a hurry to get my 94 shipped in from seattle washington there weathers like 50 during the day and lows of 40-45 for a low, they just get a lot of rain

I finally took the car home from the shop yesterday. The car drives absolutely fantastic. Ill start gathering parts over the winter and really hit it hard in the spring.

These convertibles are starting to surface now. There's one on Ebay now. Pay close attention to the convertible top. I am pretty sure there are no replacements, and any repair will be expensive.

Yup. About two years ago I was looking at one on ebay and the auction was almost over and the car was cheap but needed a new top. I sent the pics to three different shops and one wouldnt do it but the other two places both wanted $2500-$2800 to replace it.
