8 Good advice's to a new Mark VIII owner?

Since I don't know your name yet i'll just call you dude. Dude, look up my name as in a thread post from the search menu. I have written alot of tech articals that you might like. I'll start you with my exhaust thread. Here you go. Frank

As for no AC you just might have a leak and no R-134A in the system. Common for cars this old to have leaked out R134a. You need to turn on AC and check if AC compressor clutch is turning on. You can also buy a can of R134a at parts store that has a gauge on it which will tell you if your system is full or empty.

Thanks Frank.
My name is Sigurjon, I did like your work there on the headers and exhaust, very nice work. I don't want to go this far for now, just want to "open" the exhaust a little. One thing, is it necessary to have the x-exhaust under the car? Like the muffler/silencer you installed in the center under your car?
I was thinking to start with, removing the cats and replacing the mufflers in the rear with more open mufflers, 2 pipes from the engine headers and in the rear mufflers.

Regarding the AC and the fan only blowing hot air, if the AC is in the passenger side of the car (right hand side) I can see when idling it kicks in and stops, is that normal? I will try tomorrow to check if the R134a is missing in the system.
Shouldn't I be able to get cold air inside the car regardless of the AC?
I only get hot air and it is very irritating.

Can I just call you Sig for short? An X or H pipe is not set in stone. Not needed 100%. When AC is on the AC compressor should not cycle. Its showing your low on 134. You most likely need to top off on that. Buy a can that has all the things in one can, leak seal, oil and dye. AC will not get inside of car cold when low on 134.

"Sig" or "Sjonni" is fine with me :D
Thanks for this info, I will have it (R134a) checked to morrow.
Good man!

Well, here are few pictures, not perfect quality but shows the car. I find it too high and want to lower it.

Looks good! Just make sure you fix how the wheels are on wrong. The swirls all arc BACK at top of rim.

Thanks! I have not yet started to work on the polish and clean thoroughly
But the wheels  !!
I did not noticed this....how should they arc? Like the front wheel or the rear wheel?
I am still afraid the air bags in the suspension will leak IF I lower it....but I think its a must to do....

Do you know what transmission is in the Mark VIII? C6 or?

I must say, I love cruising on my Lincoln....

I mentioned what trans you have in my first reply 4R70W. Also stated way rims should go in my last post. Like the way the drivers front wheel is.

Cool ride!

Iceland now officially ROCKS!
:yourock: :drunk::waving::steering:bowrofl:

I have been looking for a good Service Manual, anyone here have one to share :D?
Or point out where to get one? I did buy one from ebay, but it was not that good....

Very nice car
Must be fun finding parts over there
And for lowering I suggest an asham8 I love mine

i have a feeling his compressor isnt venting properly. i replaced my compressor with used one, now it lowers 1.5 inches as it should, at park and at cruising speeds. hope that helps. welcome to the group too!

Please send me further info on "asham8" and prices.

(- I would like to have the suspension firm like the air ride, if possible)
Yes it is not easy finding parts for my Lincoln here....:( but again I have now you guys to help me, right?:D

Asham8 was about $200 his email is breda.b@hdsnet.hu
If you want it to be firmer you would need better shocks, sway bars, end links for
Lowered suspension, possibly cur the rear air strut shorter and relocate the front air springs
lower holes.

I don't think the Mark lowers when parked, just lowers cause you just got out of the car.

marks definitely lower when you shut it off and close the door.
park height and highway height are the same.
