Been tossing around the idea and trying to research what it would take to convert an 02 ls from 5x108 to 5x4 1/2.

The options for wheels are so much greater, and honestly I just want to do this to run some cobra R's or bullet's off a moostang.

I haven't been able to find and info, and I realize the ls is hub centric, but not sure if the mustangs are hub centric or lug centric. I would assume hub centric since our Lincoln and superduty are both that way.

If that's the case, why wouldn't one just simply re-drill the rotors and hubs, and shafts and reinstall the wheels studs?

Has anyone else done this or heard of it?

Use the Search button...................

You will need adapters to convert it to 4.5, or you can have your hubs re drilled to that, either way you will need to o some research into offsets and rims, andrizzel and bullshmitz are the foremost experts on the LS and offsets they should be able to provide you with better info...

You sure you want to convert the bolt pattern over?

Op I don't see why you couldn't just redrill the hubs mark viii guys do it . After redrilling the marks you then need hub centric ring cause the mustang has a bigger hub also to retain nearly the same offset you can run 05+ wheels.
I personally am hub converted with 03 bullitts on my 97.

This is what I'm after. ^

I know they make wheels and adapters, but that's not what I'm after. I'm after bullitts like slowmkviii or some cobra r wheels. My thing is I like to change wheels every so often, and there is much better deals on 5x4 1/2 than 5x108.

I am curious as to how many people have done it to there Lincolns. What the labor was like or what the cost roughly came out to.

Hope this adds some insight and squashes confusion.

Keep in mind the offset.

Someone on here put stang wheels on his LS and it looked like a 4x4.

Ewww. That would be a deal breaker. It already carriers too much of a 4x4 look with the 20's and no drop.

All this talk about offsets really got me thinking that it gonna cut down the option on what's available. I'm thinking along the lines of used and on craigslist. New is never an issue as there is so much out there that the possibilities are almost endless, it was the used sector that I had in mind.

I mean I knew the offset was important, I just didn't realize they wr that far off. Most vehicles with 5x4.5 are rear wheel drive and have a rear wheel drive offset where these Lincolns have a, technically a front wheel drive offset. Correct?

Really cuts down the options and that would be the main reason I would do such a thing since there are look alike cobra R's and bullits.

Thanks guys, but if n e one reads this that has done this please chime in as I would still like to hear how the conversion was and how the rewards are treating you

I have not done a hub conversion but I do run adapters with my wheels which are pcd 5x120. The LS has an OEM et of 60. Wheels for us need to run between et38- 60 and within reasonable tire specs to keep from rubbing. You have to be very cognizant of this range and remember to check on wheel width as well. If you don't you will end up looking like the 4x4 LS posted above.

I haven't seen anyone post on here personally saying they did a hub conversion. Not saying it hasn't/can't be done, but it isn't a common around here. Most just give into the lack of mass produced 5x108 options and live with it.

5 x 108 Options

A few points on the 4x4 LS-
-that guy used 275s on a 9" wheel. 9" is 225mm. He has almost an inch and a half per side overhang
-his 1" spacers are too thick. He said they were the thinnest available, but it makes you wonder if there is a thinner steel spacer/pattern changer

OK, too much trouble...

There are plenty of wheel available for the LS. You just got to search. I've never had a problem finding wheels that fit. Yes when buying wheels the offset is very important especially if you want to lower. I have 20" wheels on my LS with no drop currently and it don't look like a 4x4.

Remember they now have 7 years of used mustang wheels with a 45mm offset

Hmmm... so in theory one could drill every thing out and and just swap bolt patterns with whichever wheels. Kinda like a universal 5 lug on the car too :gr_devil:

lLove your new avatar, and car of coarse.
