Agreed, guys at DDM Tuning told me that 55W are brighter than 35W and that it's sorta overkill. You won't need them unless driving in rural areas or countryside. Stick with 35W. I'm running 6000K with fogs and low beam.

idk im thinking of getting them cuz i feel like my hids arent as bright as some that i see and i want mine to be brighter lol

The ones that appear to be brighter are the people (dumb asses) that aim them up so high that they do blind you and look bright. 35 watt is bright enough. I have two sets but I never even turn the brights on while driving. They just aren't needed. I only got the shots below because I was aiming them after installing two sets. Wasn't trying to step in on the LS but this was brought up in the Mark section not long ago. btw, these are HID's in new halogen housings.. and no, I don't order from DDM.
Low beams only in residential area.

yup 35watts is more than satisfying, 55w is pushing it

i have 55w 5000k in the lows and 35w 5000k in the fogs, and i think that the fogs are a little too much with all the glare but i still like it

What about glare from even the 35w HIDs? Are the GEN II headlight housings decent at aiming and controlling glare?

I was going to do hids until I found out about how they produce such a glare in a halogen lens. Then not too long ago I came upon a vehicle with hids and it was obvious that he had halogen lens. The glare dam near blinded the hell out of me. Not worth it to me for cool looks unless I had the correct casper bowl.
Hid headlight are, but not halogen. They weren't made for that so they dont have a cut off or control glare
They will ALL glare because light bounces from the bottom of the projector, and goes into others' eyes. What you COULD do is buy the kit, and get some hi-temp rattlecan paint, and:
1. paint the tip of the bulb just like your halogen has it
2. paint a part of the body so it appears like a D2R bulb
OR make a casper shield.

i have a 55watt 25k Purple HID kit from xtremehids.com its pretty bright its hue is amazing as it warms up..compared to my friends 10k 35watt it makes his hids look white!..i dont piss that many ppl off either

someone make me a glare shield!!! i cant stand the slanted cutoff my hids have in the halogen headlamps...
It would be much easier to simply paint over a corresponding kit bulb. D2R/S have a totally different base, and are held in by a clip rather than being screwed into place.
DJ: AFAIK, you can't get rid of that. I have yet to understand why the E-code (European) cutoff is used on the gen2 halogen lamps.
