51k too early?

The other day my CEL started flashing and the car was missing like crazy. I get home, run the code and i get a P0304 cylinder 4 misfire. So I jump on here and see what others have to say about it and it's usually a coil. However, they are usually at 100k miles or better.

So is 51k too early for coils to go bad, should I replace all of them and am I going to have to do this every 50k?

nope - not too early - especially if you see oil in the plug wells - the valve cover gaskets are leaking.

I'll look for that, I'm going to replace it today, I'm just trying to figure out if I should go ahead and replace all 8 while I'm at it.

not if it's just a coil.

if it's the VC - then yep - swap them all while you have it all apart.

51k is right on time, right when the warranty ends. These Ford engineers are way too smart.

My coils gave up at 100,300 miles, although many other things broke right after the 50k mile warranty ended.

Warranty was up in August (4 years) but yeah, right on time with the mileage.
