indeed. i wouldn't mind one for our cougar. even though the AOD in it has the 4R gearset already.
i also believe a member on LOD swapped a trans from an f150. and i think it has a different spline count for the VSS sensor? he is having a hard time correcting the speedo.
I have a 93 Mk 8. Pardon my ignorance, besides the 93,94 and 95 Mark 8's what other Ford models have a "swappable" 4R70W transmission for my 93? I presume the Gen 2 Mark 8's have the same transmission but would require electrical modifications only (?). How much for a rebuilt/remanufactured 4R70W should I expect to pay and where would I purchase? Thanks!
Wow! That's a lot better than I expected price-wise. Did you have any of the internals upgraded or was this just a standard rebuild? (still a helluva deal)
a newer style, upgraded clutch material i believe was the only major change.
everything else was just thoroughly checked and replaced as necessary.
guy did a good job. it got jmodded before i even put it back in the car and hasn't missed a beat ever.
Pull-a-part here in Charlotte has a slew of Crown Vics...Ford explorer's etc...should be able to find one newer and would swap. Another project.
At the moment I am sitting at the "stealership" twiddling my thumbs as they give me their diagnosis. It's a good bunch of guys here I just can't afford their overhead! We shall see. Thanks for your support!
From all my reading I realize I don't need to do one mod...I have the right driveshaft! I guess that would be cheating to put that in my signature!
