How hard is it to get 350 hp out of the mark?

what would be needed.

talking flywheel here.
 
youd need either some extreme headwork, or some decent headwork and mild bottom end work.

Its not gonna be cheap however you do it.

theres 305 hp on the dang 4.6 4v mustang...and im guessing thats because of the intake setup and exhaust setup that its 20 more...iv heard of them pumping out 350 horse without headwork and all that jazz...why is it so diffrent for the mark 4.6?
 
well, I almost want to say I take that back. I doubt it would make it there with only bolt ons, but I bet it would be close. I bet with a decent set of cams it would make it, if we are talking flywheel.

Yea....you need to realize.....


1. The modular engine family is STILL in it's "infancy" (compared to the older generation)

2. People are NOT making the same ammount of aftermarket stuff to support high horsepower applications (partly because of reason 1.)

3. Its ALOT harder to make alot of power out of 281 CI than it is a 302...351...400...460. (no replacment for displacment.)


EVERYTHING is more expensive with the modular engine platform and will be that way for some time. I could go out and spend on one whole engine (traditional that is)what I would for a set of cams for a 4V mod motor.


The nice part about the modular engines are SMOOTH seamless power, and GOOD gas mileage(even when modded).

guess ill just have to wait for the parts to arrive, and the prices to fall.

with that being accepted...whats about the best power i can expect to find with just bolt ons?
 
Well, I know your aginst N2O for some reason, but for ~500$ you could have the ability to go 75-150 Hp extra.

wouldnt all the available bolt ons including a set of kooks and a ported cobra give you about 280 rwhp? thats about 350 fwhp with a 20% loss to the tranny.
 
You could get mor hp out of just port and polidhing the heads cant you? plus Ive seen cam sets going for 200 bucks thats adverage.. I dont see where its anymore or less just because its a modular engine.. they might be Rare but Thats what makes it fun??? I had a 350 in a chevelle with 500 horses and it cost no more than it would to make a 4.6 do the same thing. Ford made the cammer which is a bored over and stroked 4.6 to 5.0 with only stroking and head work and there pushing 550hp and thats complete create engine..so to do it yourself your looking at half the cost...so my question is why cant it me done???

its a $16000 motor



Im against nos because i dont want to kill my engine. I hear about some people runnin nos, and they are getting about 40 bottles, and the motor is in need of replacement...i dont have that kinda doe, yet.
 
technically you are not going to kill your motor unless you do it right. our motor can handle NOS very well. unlike 2.0l 4 cylinders, which there pistons will shoot through their hoods!

Look around...average price for a set of cams for the 4 valve is 11-1200 dollars. And porting and polishing is a VERY difficult thing to do (lots of time and money involved).

Your knowledge of cars is obviously not up to par if you think our engines can handle nitrous any better than a 4 cylinder. Obviously ours can take more of it, due to more hp stock, but a 4 cylinder can handle its share just fine.

You Could Be right but I thought I swore I seen some between 3-like the 600 range
