Has anyone tried to fit the FULL 2nd gen interior in a 1st Gen? seats, carpet, lights, dash, panels, the whole kaboodle.

I'm in the process of the door panels right now. I did some recon last weekend to see what kind of a wiring nightmare I'm about to get into, and I'm going to try my passenger door panel this saturday.

I'm sure the seats & carpets would be no problem. Dash & telescoping wheel would be fun, I can tell you that, lol.

I think its been done. Everything except the dash at least. If you go for a Gen 2 dash you need the Gen 2 center console. Then you would have a gauge cluster issue too I think. The seats are not a direct swap because of the wiring I believe.

If I did this I would swap EVERYTHING out, electronics and all. But if I wanted that interior I would just pick up a nice 97/98 and swap my engine into it!

Im talking about the FULL interior, message center, steering wheel dash...

no clue if the cooling components have ever been replaced and the car is 14 yrs old. might as well do it as preventive maint.

why would bother swapping it, what are you gonna do about the gen II ignition in the dash, the steering column, the wiring, your nuts!! try it though, cuz i'll be the one who bets you get 1/2 way through and wish you didnt try it. i would do it all except the dash, you are asking for a serious headache if you try the dash too. good luck!!

the ignition is easy, bypass the PATS VATS (I dont remember) I think the hardest part would be the message center, I need to get my hands on a Gen2 FSM so I can learn how message center works. Column is cakewalk

I've dealt with near impossible swaps before, I stuffed a 2JZ in an 86 cressdia(Fun as hell car)

The message centers are very different. You will need a Gen II steering column I would think, unless you break out the steering lock.

BTDT in my car, carpet is different, headliner is different, dash is just short of impossible Not worth it at all. Even the seats didnt work. I had to "reskin" my Gen 1 seats with the Gne 2 foam and leather. PITA.
