Yea so I need tires BAD!!!!!!!!!!!! I found an AWESOME deal on some new tires with corvette wheels, they're 245 50 16's, anyone run them on their car? Have any trouble rubbing?

that is the exact tire I put on...
I use the cooper zeon ZPT 245-50-16

they have never rubbed anything

Thats the same i run on the rear of my car. No rubbing. My old 255 rubbed a little when lowered. 245 50 are perfect. Its a shorter tire so its like running a lower rear gear. Helps for low end launch. It will throw your speedo off at highway speeds its like 3-4 mph. The speedo reads faster than your going. Helps to avoid tickets.

whats the widest tire you can fit on the back with the stock rims? im looking for a good winter tire setup

245-50-16
Some places will even tell you "that's too wide" for the stock rim

some folks have ran 255-50-16's with mixed results mainly due to the differences in production variables.

One manufacturers 255 wont be the same size as another manufacturers 255.

Discount had problems mounting my 245 50's.. one of the wheels didn't want to "seat" the bead.
They pumped an insane 140LBS of pressure into it before it seated.

I myself wouldn't go larger than 245-50's..

weell if you want you can scoop up some of the rubber you left in front of my house... theres half a tire right there!!! :D Also check out tiresavings.com ive bought from the a few times always on time and never dissapointed, good deals too!

I have 245 50 16 on my 94 ...

Only issue is being that they are a slight bit shorter than stock with the 1.5 lower kit I have to be very careful on rough roads or in towns with $hitty street departments

I have 245/50 on my stock 10 spokes with no issues at all. Yeah they are a tad shorter but the extra 20mm of width makes the car feel nicer and hook a hair better.
No rubbing issues or anything and they look ight at home on my wheels. They have over 25K on them now and still have 50% tread left. :D

Yea Rich, I had 245-50/16's my 96 since I got it three years ago (on my second set:D )-front and back, the first place I bought them when I had my 93 (6-7 years ago) the guy tried to tell me the wheels were not wide enough, so I bought them at another place-thats all I had on my Mark's since, does improve handling a little, and you can usually get pretty good deals on that size. They don't rub, don't wear funny if you keep it aligned and rotate them (especially since, like me, you like that 2ed gear 'chirp')-and they look great, much better than 60's.

i had the cooper zeon zpt's on my black 93 as well, 245-50-16's.

I'm gonna go look at the coopers tomorrow.:shifty:

I want a pic from the back and side showing the 255 50 16s... would like to see what they look like from the rear. Then the side view showing both sets to see the difference.

I was going to try those next...

You got it.....they're on vette rims now, gonna mount em up prob tomorrow....i'll get pics up soon

Can these run on stock width rims? They won't rub on the strut on the front or the fender on the rear?

I have 245/50 on my stock 10 spokes with no issues at all. Yeah they are a tad shorter but the extra 20mm of width makes the car feel nicer and hook a hair better.
No rubbing issues or anything and they look right at home on my wheels. They have over 25K on them now and still have 50% tread left. :D
