2009 Lincoln MKS Review by Edmunds

I thought the MKR WAS the Mustang based coupe. Unless Wikipedia is wrong, it says it is based off the D2C platform.

Wikipedia wrong? The deuce, you say! ;)

The MKR show car wasn't a coupe, and it really wasn't on any platform--it was a one-off concept car, though it was ostensibly based on an Australian RWD platform (it could have been a stretched D2C, though), as was the Interceptor show car. The Lincoln that will become the production MKR (or whatever it will be called) is based off a global RWD platform that's still under development. (The platform was supposed to be developed in Australia, but last year they announced that it will be developed in Dearborn, and there will be Ford and Lincoln variants.)

I remember reading some news article saying they used a stretched mustang frame for the concept.
