I have a 05 LS V6 with 50,104 miles and its starting to misfire! I hear a popping noise in my intake and i wanted to know about the coil issue. How many do I have to get or should i replace them all since im doing one of em? I went to RockAuto.com and i saw two choices one was the

MOTORCRAFT Part # DG517 {#2W4Z12029AB}$46.79

and the other was this one

STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # FD496

{D.I.S. MODULE}
Distributorless Ignition; Six used, replace as required.
$50.79

which one should i get?

Well another one bites the dust... Jeez, I sure hope someone at lincoln wakes up at the helm. Sorry to hear about the troubles.

You have 6 coils and if it were me I would most definitely replace all 6 and the plugs if I were doing the job myself. If you have the shop do the job maybe just have them focus on the one.

Today i got all the spark plugs, coolant and fuel filter changed. the spark plugs were messed up bad and the fuel filter was heavy! I still have the same problem. The car idles good but when i am in stop and go traffic my intake will pop in low RPM's and in high RPM's sometimes and when im at the light and it turns green it pops most of the time when i accelerate. Should i get the coils replaced or what can i do?

Hey, where is the fuel filter on your car? I should probably change mine (V6 as well)

Im not sure about the popping. Sounds like detonation in the manifold, but it is soooo rare to have something like that happen on a modern era car. I doubt that changing the coils will do anything to help you though.

It's in the driver's wheel well - behind the plastic liner on the firewall side. one bolt and a couple of standard Ford R-clips holding it in.

I'll look and see if the 05's have the pcv valve. I wouldn't be able to know if they used the same POS tubing but if they did I wouldnt be the least bit suprised if this might be part of the problem.

Are you going to replace the COP's?

Son of a !@#$%.

ROUGH IDLE OR MIL LAMP ON

LINCOLN:
2003-2005 LS

ISSUE
Some 2003-2005 Lincoln LS vehicles with 3.0L Duratec V6 engines may exhibit a no start, rough idle, or malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0171, P0174, P0173, P2195, P2197, P0420, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306. This may be due to a vacuum leak at the PCV tube.

ACTION
Inspect the PCV tube at all joints for possible disconnection and/or for loose or swollen rubber fittings. If any of the connections/fittings are loose, install a new PCV tube. Refer to the following Service Procedure. If no problems are found with the PCV tube perform normal diagnostics outlined in the appropriate PC/ED manual.

Try asking for an after warranty adjustment. You might have to call ford cust care to get it done but I would start with the shop first.

yea i am gonna change them out. the mechanic told me i dont need to because theyre electronic and if i did need to replace them the car would idle rough and such. hes a good guy tho he said to buy the coils and he'll replace them for free since the spark plugs and fuel filter didnt help even thought they needed to be replaced.
