2004 LS 3.0 wont idle

Hello forum. I have an 04 LS V6 with 93000 miles that ran perfect one day and the next day went to start the car and it cranked, backfired and now will start but runs super rough and wont maintain an idle. I have been planning to buy an OBD scanner for some time but haven't done so yet, I figured nows the time. Any ideas on the car and advice on a scanner? Ive been looking at the foxwell NT630, it reads SRS and ABS. Any help on either topic greatly appreciated!

Forscan is a good one, AFAIK.

I use forscan on iOS and it is fantastic. It gives you the detailed ford-specific codes and information that generic scanners do not.
