The shifter is nothing more than electronic switch. In SST you WILL bounce off the rev limiter. Lincoln's programming doesn't up-shift when in manual mode; it stays in whatever gear you selected. So, once you hit the rev limiter in whatever gear you selected, you will stay on it until YOU up-shift.
I dont think understand what I am saying.
It hit the 3k rev limiter just as it would in park and would coast just as it does with the recent problem I have.
When my trans was working in SST it would red line if not shifted, not hit the 3k RPM limiter.
I also dont recall ever being in any vehicle that up shifted for you while in a Manual mode I know for a fact my new Subaru does not
