Today sometime I am going to be doing a replacement of the rear calipers, rotors, and pads. I have done many rear brake replacements but on this one, I see a spring loaded, cable tension thingie.

Anything I need to know or will it pretty much explain itself as I do it?? Do we have a rear brake guide somewhere I could reference?

Thanks in advance.

You might want to try search as there eminence information on doing brakes.

The rear brakes piston need to be screwed in as it is part of the emergency brakes.

Are you replacing the calipers also?

Brake job on the LS is not all that hard.

I know about the screw in piston thing, to be more specific I am asking about the tension cable that is on the rear caliper. Am I going to need to do anything specific to work with it?? I have changed the rear pads before.... rotor+caliper+pads this time and to be ready... was just trying to find out about that cable thing.

The searches did not give me what I was looking for, thanks for the suggestion though.

I think that the e-brake cable. unless you are replacing the rear rotor I don't think it will be a problem.

I'm doing the calipers, rotors, and pads. That cable turned out to be nothing to worry about, was very easy to remove and put it back together. Thanks guys.

Why change calipers?

The one on the driver side was no longer working. it pushed the pad through the rotor and was in need of replacement....

So I did both rear calipers, rotors, and pads. No $$ left for the steel lines.... they can be next in line though.
